Question *HELP NEEDED* PIONEER Avic 8000NEX w/ Scosche Kit

***HELP NEEDED***

Down to the point since I would like to order everything today or go in to the store and pick up all that stuff up tomorrow.....

Well hey everyone I'm ready to purchase Some audio stuff for my car! After some research I want to get the PIONEER double din Head unit and the Scosche Kit for it. I was also thinking of getting the Pioneer back up camera. I also have an android phone. What do I need to get other than the obvious stuff. Not a big audio person so not too knowledgeable in this field.

This is what im planning on getting....

Head Unit - Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX
Camaro kit - Scosche GM5201AB
Back up Camera - Pioneer ??? (anyone know which one I need? Part #?)

I plan to add some better speakers & amps for em later on eventually.

MY QUESTIONS....

- Is there anything else I need?

- Do I need anything to still control stuff from my steering wheel? (Audio shop told me I needed an extra kit for this. Part #?)

- Any other wiring that I should install now that I can use in the future so that I don't do double the work?

- Can I install this myself with a friends help?

- Do I need anything so I can link it with my Android phone?

- Are the factory speakers loud enough (Boston Acoustics)? I Don't need anything too loud.

- Any additional wiring needed? Grounds?
.......

A local shop said they can do this unit and scosche kit with steering control kit, installed for $1350.00 cash. Does that sound like a good price? I'm just very picky of who works on my car. I like for work to be done flawlessly.

JUST WANT TO DO IT RIGHT THE 1ST TIME AROUND.

WHAT DO U GUYS RECOMMEND?

Anything else I might be missing in here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!

That is a decent price...
Assuming 800 for the head unit
150 for the dash kit
50 for the steering controls
350 for labor and additional parts...

Yeah it sounds very fair but im just iffy of the quality of work they will be doing. Not sure how good of installers they have and I don't want any wires cut on my car so that's why I wanted to do it myself or have someone I know do it for me.

You can do it your self. It is not hard just takes a bit of time. You should not need anything for your steering wheel controls, the Scosche kit should handle that. As for the back up camera it depends on what you want, ie. guide lines, no guide lines. Just look at what they have and get the one you like. Their are good DYI's on this site that will walk you through it. Plan on taking all day, don't be in a hurry. As for the sound it will be pretty much like the sound you have now. If you want more power then replace the AMP using a FARK kit from ********. Easy as well.

You are going to want to get the Pioneer bypass device too.
They sell it on ebay for about $14,
allows video to work while car is moving

I hate to hijack this but are you having problems with the navi? Where did you mount the antenna? Any pics? Just put this unit in and I'm having some issues

Where are you finding the AVIC-8000NEX for $800? I've only seen it from authorized sellers (because I want Pioneer's warranty) for $1300-$1400.

I attached my GPS antenna to the underside of a metal plate above the glove box. I've had zero issues with reception.

I have the Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS in two of my cars, works perfect with my Android phone. I didn't want built-in Nav since I have Tom Toms and the Pioneer can mirror my phone anyway which can do Nav if I want it to. I didn't use a Pioneer camera, got a lic plate frame through Amazon which works just fine. I have never watched a DVD on them yet, and in fact, I no longer use the DVD for anything now that I put all my music on a USB stick.
