The GMPP cnc heads are pretty good bang for the buck. PRC is a decent price. FED and MAST, while good, can be crazy expensive. Although I have a set of FED heads on my 427. So....

Gotta decide what you wanna do and how much you want to spend. Lol. Buy some ported factory ones or completely new aftermarket castings. Both can be had with springs and whatnot.

These from Frankenstein seem good for the money, any set of aftermarkets heads will be at least 2400+

https://frankensteined.net/shop/m311...head-complete/

Whatever head you get, they can usually mill to get you the desired chamber size, Id take that compression up to at least 11.0. Cometic 0.040" gaskets will help with that too.

LS3 heads flow really well, but if you are wanting to swap cams you may want to consider some of the offerings from Frankenstein, since you can get a better valve angle. I don't remember you saying you had any plans for FI so some milled LS3 heads would probably be the best bang for your buck, since they would flow well, milling to bump your compression, and while you're in there, some lighter hollow stem LS3 valves since you're trying to spin some higher RPMs.

Good morning and thanks guys for the info. Now I have several options. I figured if I can save some bucks on shipping the car to GPI, I can put it into the build, then have it tuned correctly.

Unfortunately LOD did not make the ls7 head intake they hinted at making back when the made the one your running, me my self I just wait to ship a complete GPI set up with the small bore ls7 heads since the price is so great that's a big reason they are instant popular choice since they designed them....as MAST is Spendy and I have had them F up some heads before and that's a long ugly story about a concentric valve grinding machine and shipping back heads I tore off a 406.... Now for more flow potential small bore ls7 is where its at for the ls3 IMO....and can support with the valve angle change the larger cam, and other things for in the future...… Good Luck!

And yes of course they come complete, and Frankenstein is of course also spendy and money does matter.... and there's a bazillion choices of this and that as time goes along for heads but not so many worth just paying to port your heads for low gains or etc...… I would rather buy scoggins dickey refresh of stock cnc ported for the price than a lot of the products out there as $$$ matters and not just any porting is good... some have even made holes in the runners if not smart..... But I researched things years ago over and over and was glad GPI stepped up to make good small bore heads...…. They will be the bees knees...…… IMO I have been on here like forever BTW on not my first gen 5 ss which was first a 11 vert on the showroom floor.....triple black got me.... I remember when vendors would actually jump all over when someone wanted advice...now we are just old and not happening.... Hell I remember when Vararam was going to make a VRX actual plastic mid ram intake and just stringed us along forever..... And will will most likely get the Airforce and be glad to have the torque as it moves your butt...………...

Well I got the converter ordered, Circle D 5C, 4000-4200. Also talked to Rich last evening at Redline Motorsports about everything, decided not to change the heads because my car is just for the street, and maybe 4 trips a year to the track, if that. He said for the money and what I want to do with the car the stock ones flow really well, and that I wouldn't notice too much of a difference in a head swap, so saving my money for other things. Now it's just a waiting game for the converter. Chatted with Chris at Circle D yesterday and my converter should ship by the 22nd.. Keep ya's posted. Thanks for all the great info.. Stay well..

Good plan! A proper calibration and converter should make it come alive.

Yep, that's next. I need to find a good used 1LE diff... Don't have anyone here that I would trust to set it up if I just ordered the gear kit and bearings/seals to do it correctly.. I think the last time I asked my "other" tune shop down south, he wanted about 1800 to do it..

Yea I know it's not cheap, but just gotta keep looking for a used diff.. I think I might just check with Redline since they will be doing the re-tune on the car when I get the new stall in, see what they have to offer.

That's one thing I noticed about Redline. They don't try to upsell anything. Rich was a straight shooter and tells it like it is.......understands that not everyone has an unlimited budget.
