Mustang Mach E Competition Edition

Let's take this time to show our support to our mustang brothers who stood with us when we had out 2019 as front end abomination. We could of never thought they would do this to the mustang name and why we have our differences most of them have us support so now we need to stand with them.

On the upside it should save lives. Definitely won't wanna be driving that think where anyone can see you in it.

Except for the Mustang badging and tail lights, it could be an attractive SUV. Even the "Mach [something]" name is forgivable, since it's been 16 years since a Mustang bore it. But attaching the actual, storied Mustang name to it is insanity, way worse than the Camaro's 2019 facelift.

100% agree. I get it, name/brand recognition but using the Mustang nameplate is a poor choice IMO. It should sink/swim on the vehicles merits alone.

It seems not only odd to be called a Mustang, but also odd to be called an SUV.

This car doesn't appear to be either of those things. Maybe it's a CUV? But it's much smaller than I anticipated, and I honestly can see standard "cars" becoming this style very quickly.

An all-electric crossover wearing the badges of a Mustang...

Perplexing.

Gadzooks! Why do American auto markers think electric = ugly? Oh wait, never mind, big oil.
But I digress. Today's younger generations seem to flock to these oddballs. It'll prob sell well.

I am fearful of what is happening to the American car market. It seems that we have lost all sense of style and distinction. The cars made today are mostly anonymous, bland and lacking of any style or character. The cars are, in general, more efficient and of a high quality construction, and thus more dependable than cars from past eras. The problem is that all or most car manufacturers make the same type of vehicle. In a little while it will not matter which manufacturer one buys a car from. In the absence of style, the best vehicle will be the one that is the most reachable.

Maybe they're just looking to pull up the CAFE averages for Mustang with the 4 banger and now the EV?

Ford put up sort of a preliminary configurator on their website. The targeted 0-60 performance advertised there is "under 4 seconds" for the top of the line GT (at $60,000), but the cheapest with RWD and the small battery is mid 6 seconds, AWD & small battery is low 6 seconds, and the larger battery & AWD is mid 5 seconds. That's slow for a Tesla (this Ford's real competitor) and slow plus expensive for a "Mustang". Crazy.

There's no "big oil" conspiracy making electric cars "ugly". As for younger generations buying a bunch of these, maybe the more wealthy ones - these start at nearly $44k! And people thought the Blazer was pricy!

EVs usually qualify for extensive rebates, and you can factor in gas mileage savings into cost of ownership to see that EVs while having a larger initial cost, do wind up being cheaper than the sticker suggests.

Yikes...Embarrassing for the Mustang brand. They could have at least called it a new Pinto.

Corporate Average Fuel Economy is done at the parent company (Ford Motor Company) level, not the nameplate (Mustang) level. They could’ve called it anything. Personally, I would’ve suggested “Torino”. Tied to some very cool vehicles in Ford’s past. Doesn’t compromise the Mustang name nor draw the pitchforks and torches of Mustang enthusiasts.
