Embarrassed by ZL1 yesterday

This wasn't a racing loss. I was at work yesterday and driving to a job site. I noticed a White Camaro on the side of the van. I was a passenger and I always look at Camaros and was watching it drive by on my left. This was on a divided highway with 2 lanes in my direction. The Camaro passed us and cut in front of us and immediately turned right at the intersection but he wasn't even in the turn lane. Now this wasn't close to causing an accident as my driver saw him in time and slowed down. When he got in front of us we could see the ZL1 emblem as I couldn't see the hood before to see that it was a ZL1. The 2 guys in the van with me started giving me a hard time. "Oh is that the way you drive your ZL1?", " Oh, ZL1 drivers are ass holes that can't drive", "Oh, ZL1 drivers think they own the road." LOL
I had to listen to that the rest of the day.

I saw someone driving in a Toyota similar to your experience. Don't need a fast car to drive recklessly.

Sounds like pure jealousy on their part. I get it a lot too. I can tell you how many "friends" have really enjoyed reading about the supercharger issue and sending me links about it.

I am in morgantown quite a bit mxkx 250. I live about an hour from there, and my g/f works in clarksburg. There is a garage a bunch of us went to just outside of morgantown that sponsored a dyno day a few months back. There is going to be a car show in flat woods on Saturday, that another car forum is sponsoring. You can PM me if you are interested.

I get embarrassed as well when I see stupidness on the road.

I just saw an Orange ZL1 being an idiot. He jumped the green light was more than halfway though an intersection before the light went green.
Fortunately I wasn't in my Z, (I take my MonteSS when it might rain) so I could laugh at the rookie like all the other drivers who saw this.

But they are pretty rare around here, that's the 3rd time I've seen a ZL1 on the road.

Very true. I see a lot of idiots with rusted out slow Honda Integras driving like that around here.

Why would you think something that some random person who bought one of the other 10's of thousands of cars made reflects poorly on you.

Stereotyping. Happens a lot.

Since you own a ZL1 it is different for you, but I wouldn't have been able to hear the remarks because I would've been drooling over the ZL1

It wasn't that big a deal for me. We all get on each other at work for any reason, or no reason at all. Makes the day go faster. Yeah, you see that kind of driving with all makes of car. It's just with me, I take care of my ZL1 and always leave extra room, make sure I se the bumper of the car I am passing before I cut in. Being in a College town, no disrespect to anyone personally, I see a lot of very young drivers doing this. My son is a prime example, driving like they have the experience of Mario Andretti. Anyone can steer their car at high speeds. Driving a car means driving no faster on the street than can be handled safely.
Lastly, it's all good. Nobody died, no fenders were wrinkled. Just a comment I made about my experience on that day. Later folks.

Idiots come in all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, genders and vehicles. This is just more proof.
