So I wonder what this new tranny is. I'm looking forward to the V version of the upcoming 3 series fighter. Maybe that will be somewhat affordable somewhere down the line.

Sounds like it should be an amazing performer - and at least, it solves the paddle shift/console shift issue with some people: give it both!

Sounds like another quality GM vehicle is about to hit the streets. The TR6060 is exciting too. Couple questions though:

the hypereurectic pistons are a type of forged, so when they fail they shatter instead of becoming a fist sized projectile they break into a hundred little pieces and fall into the oil pan

Which brings us to "eurectic" which means two elements can be alloyed together, BUT only up to a certain percentage, ie you can only add so much salt to a pot of water before it wont dissolve anymore. So for our case of the pistons and aluminum, we add silicon to the aluminum which reduces the amount of expansion. now only about 12% of this mixture can be silicon before it wont "dissolve" anymore, so special processes are used to force extra silicon into the mixture, bringing it to around 20%, this greatly reduces thermal expansion, which allows us to make tighter tolerance engines. the fact that we have now "super-saturated" the mixture of silicon to aluminum above the "eurectic" point of 12% makes it over or hyper eurectic hope that helps |

And as for the CTS-V, I think its awesome that the car of the year is getting a 'boost' in a few months. This is going to be a good year for GM, with the new Malibu, the CTS, the G8, and the ZR1

Early public showing of the 2009 CTS V at the Concours D'Elegance
Here are some pics, taken by my boss, of the 2009 CTS V from the Concours. This car was on the 10th tee box and was the first car you see when you enter the show. Basically, from the manufacturers perspective, it got top billing. My boss currently owns a 2007 CTSV with the 400hp LS2. He spent quite a bit of time talking with the Caddy Rep. Making plans to trade up I think.
You all may want to sit down for this.... Cost of this car as it sits... $62,000.00 Uh the Camaro is looking better and better. Especially if we can get close to this kind of power. And now for the pics. What a georgeous car. And these guys helped design the Camaro... Gotta love it.
