The shaking was the result of not using hub centric to wheel centric spacers. Without the hub lip on the outboard side to meet up with the wheel center bore, the spacer can get misaligned on the hub/wheel assembly causing the shaking problem you experienced.

Also, 25mm is bit too much IMO for any spacer. If you kept it to 15mm or maybe 18mm, it would looked pretty good too.

So go with the 15 or the 18 for the front ? What do you think ? Thanks for the feedback.

With the 25mms did you have to replace or cut down the lugs?
Ever get the 15s/18s?

I didn't have to do that on my car. I just didn't want to mess with the fronts since I was getting shaking so I didnt buy the 15s or 18.

I've run 25, 20 and 15mm spacers/adapters. They did not induce any vibration and did not change my alignment, lol.

What brand of 15mm spacers do you run?

How about the studs?
Did they clear on the 25mms?

The 15mm spacers were eibach.
I used Motorsport technologies spacers
eBay spacers and eibach spacers
All were proper to the car, hub centric adapter style.
All of them cleared SS sedan and CTS-V wheels
It's important to use a high quality spacer with the proper hub dimensions.
I thought the eibach was the best designed and strongest by far

Wheel shake

Hi...
i have had 1 inch spacers front and rear on my 2012 SS convertible for more than 2 years.
Never any problem. About 6 months ago the car went to the original dealership to change front rotors and pads.
They refused to install the spacers. Been driving without my front spacers since.
Now I have a steering wheel shake between 50-60 mph.
Will go and install the front spacers this week and do an alignment and balance.... let’s see how that goes.
Any suggestions? Besides buying new wheels?

Wheel spacers are fine for shows, but imo faster the driving, the unsafe the spacers become. Recommend looking into a set of rims with a non-stock wheel spacing to accommodate repositioning your wheels where you like them.
The engineers were given the task of making a car with a given value of money that they were not allowed to exceed.
So just because engineers designed something doesn't mean it can't be done better.

After all, why oil pumps fail, valve springs burst, burn synchrons in second gear, clutch and other things are not working properly. ....engineers

If the spacers are of good quality with centering rings not be a problem with them.

And if they're safe ...?

Albeit an old thread, figured I'd add my .02.
Recently pick up some 5mm spacers from motorsports-tech. Its amazing that something that small actually makes a big difference.
The main reason I got them is I really like the stock rims. I have the 20x9 squared and plan on some minor suspension upgrade, including lowering. Gave me just that little extra space to clear the struts.
