defeating the fuel pressure control module... how are you doing it

Seeing as how the stock pump runs out of steam, and it's not possible to get a BAP functional... how have people defeated the FPCM? The fact that it only allows 12V to the pump, regardless of input voltage, kind of hinders things, combined with the pulse width modulation. For boosted guys, what have you done to supply the fuel needed to keep going? I've heard of some people using a second pump on a hobbs switch to feed the rest of the fuel, but I'd like to avoid a rich spike when hitting boost. I'm interested in setting up a return-style system using a second pump on a hobbs and a vacuum referenced FPR to try and stabilize the pressure delta over the injectors, but I don't know if this will interfere with any diagnostics or if the PCM actually measures rail pressure. With the rail seeing lower pressure during manifold vacuum and higher pressure during manifold boost, I don't know how the PCM or FPCM will respond.

So... anybody have experience with a good, stable setup?

Hmmm...I'm pretty sure we had a 2010 Camaro with a BAP on it here, I know it did NOT work properly at first, actually causing pressure to drop, but after the builders did their homework on the vehicles wiring, they figured something out and made it work, I'll see if I can find out...

BAP does work but still not best option. I have the BAP as well but I also went ahead and did the dual fuel pump by Fastlane and has cured all pressure issues.

BAP-Boost a pump.

FPCM-Fuel Pump Control Module

FPR-Fuel pressure regulator

Fastlane sells a dual fuel pump module that just runs 2 pumps off the cars FPCM and uses the existing returnless style system, this probally not what u need.

IPS motorsports is working on a duel intank setup that will not use a FPCM but work as a return fuel system so u could use a map reference regulator, you might want to call them to confirm this but I do not think the ECM cares whether there is a FPCM hooked up or not.

There is a DTC that the FPCM request everytime I blew the fuse to mine but it could obviously be tunned out if needed.

I'll speak with Brandon at IPS tomorrow. The vehicle doesn't NEED to be converted to return style, but I'm definitely not against doing it. If the dual pump setup is stable and won't produce pressure spikes, then it'd be fine. I just want realiable and predictable operation. The SD 60s will work great either way.

It is alot of work,I think we have mastered it pretty well. The complete system with labor was over $3000.00(Mostly labor).Well worth it in the end,on a dry nitrous system we were 11.9 afr at 6600rpm at well over 1000hp at the engine.

Fpcm can be kept or deleted..your choice. We also recommend a Kennebell Boostapump,They do work when installed properly.

Sounds like eliminating the FPCM is the best bet.

This isn't my car, but one I'll be tuning, and I just want to know that it will not have weird problems or run out of fuel.

Lonnie's Performance now has a plug and play drop in 2 pump system for these cars.

He is going to be building us a 3 pump system for ours... :-)

Have a 2012 backhalfed camaro. It has a aftermarket fuel cell with an a1000 pump. How do I bypass the fpcm? Does the fpcm have to be tuned out? What about the fuel pressure sensor and tank pressure sensor can they be tuned out? It’s plumbed and wired. Just wondering if it’s going to throw a code due to not using the FPCM or any of the factory sensors from the original tank. Any help or info will be appreciated. Thanks

I don't have HPT in front of me and it's been years since I had to do this, so I don't remember the specifics ATM.
Yes, you'll have to disable the FPCM. You'll also have to set a static fuel pressure in the tune. And you're to copy your values in the column for that FP into all the other columns. (At least one table)
If someone else doesn't chime-in, I'll try to remember to look at my tune tonight to get you more details.
