thats really wouldnt be anything close to what we would spec for a PD blower car.
what other mods does he have other than the blower? |

thats pretty close to my cam. Promised not to reveal the specs. when it was installed i wasnt thinking of FI. But when we slapped on the Procharger and got 637RWHP at only 6-7psi boost we were kind of surprised. My cam plays well with the blower.

CAM specs
Actully that cam spec was developed by Comp Cams and Ted Jennetty, a friend of mine runs that cam with a TVS 2300 blower and produces about 700 hp and is an everyday driver.
Contact Comp Cams or Jennetty about that cam spec. |

I spec'd a similar setup for my whipple car, wanting mean muscle car sound, sounds great, under 1500-1600 rpms with a clutch leaves a little to be desired, but everywhere else is sick. It is a large cam for that blower, but I achieved my goal all around. In the end there is always one close or even dead on to what I want. This time I came close to a big N/A cam of Vengeance's and tweaked it for a blower. Turned out exactly how I wanted.
By the way I made my numbers in sig on 9.5ish psi, rich, conservative tune, with rev limiter set at 6500. 11.2 AFR, 15* timing total, and it will hit 10 psi at max, belt is still rubbing itself at WOT... Obviously a couple more pounds of boost and some leaner afr tuning would send it over 700... and add meth, who knows?

I'm not an expert, but I might ask everyone while we are talking about this. For the SAME intake and exhaust duration mentioned above, doesn't it make sense to increase the lobe separation angle to about 116 degrees and only grind in about 2 degrees advance as opposed to the standard 4. You might gain a better idle quality and low speed driveablity (think below 1800 rpm while managing the clutch). You would also use more of your intake duration for building boosted cylinder pressure as opposed to blowing it out the exhaust... and you might gain slightly more torque at the top where you are shifting gears and trying to win a race, while also making the same if not more horsepower. I'm pretty sure the camshaft will still sound awesome and.... just might get better gas mileage too....
I'm also asking this question because I will soon be in the same whipple situation and a wrong camshaft decision for your intended goals can be a big mistake. It seems like this specific intake duration (around 227-231 degrees for LS3's) is right at the point of trade off between the greed of making more power and sacrificing the quality of low speed driving (parking lots with speed bumps, stop lights etc...) I know with the camshaft that I have right now, every now and then it gets me into a slight lugging situation on the interstate at normal speeds. Is your buddy with the C5 planning on driving the car on a road track or dragstrip? That would make a difference on the decision as well. As far as sound goes, my 227/239 has got just enough lope to make me crack a smile. I can only imagine how much better 4 more degrees of both intake and exhaust duration will sound in a slightly smaller engine- it surely will not disappoint in the sound department!

I went with Total Performance Engineering 's blower cam and it put down the HP numbers he claimed it would. 635RWHP @7PSI with a Maggie and it sounds very good at idle. My car is an LS3.

Thats pretty much a Cam Vengeance Racing offers and have been for years. Nobody on this board designed it,just copied which is common in this industry.
It could work pretty good on a PD setup. |

Exactly. I tweaked that n/a cam more for my desire. It's nice, a little low rpm drive issues, but its a trade off for a sick sounding blower car. The toll collector thought my car was broke the other night...

I just put the same cam in mine. I haven't got it back together yet. You have any video? How's your drivability?

Sorry no video. The low speed drivability is very good "better than i thought it would be" with the proper tune and open road driving is even better. Idle is very noticable with a little car shake. Hope this helps.

I have one in a NA car we did in 08. Almost no lope at all idling at 800rpm and no drivability issue's. It was an ok cam but we tighten the split up alot nowadays.

It is Not what I would suggest for a Whipple. My Blower Cams will have my Name on the Cam card and will only be available throught JRE. Thanks for the Recommendation though
