You're not older than me! I finished graduate school in 1985 and did a 3 year detour after HS (1975). I don't miss those days of writing papers & prep for tests. But never regreted a minute of it. The one thing in the world that cannot be lost or taken from you is your education. The greatest thing you will learn is how to learn really skillfully. The learning never stops. Cherish this time. You will have the rest of your life to work.

I'm old and married now (got married three months ago) but super happy....and I know the least about cars, haha. Most of you have helped me out at some point and time.

I've been in the workforce for exactly four years now (after finishing graduate school) and can say I definitely learn more on the job than at school (although I did learn quite a bit in my specific field). College is not necessary...yet most of the time it's a necessity (sadly).

I need to frequent this thread more often...tons of info!!!!
Congratz on your wedding!!!

Oops!! I meant to say I'm probably older than most, Haha!

You're right about the learning never stopping!! That's for sure. I teach at a community college in addition to my full time job and still learn new things every day teaching that I may not have otherwise.

What wins, my M6 with a vararam, ported manifold + spacer + 315s out back (street tire) vs an LT1 94 camaro m5?

But I wonder what the weight difference is (I know nothing about 4th gens) and who also has better experience behind the wheel will play a major part.

Dig, its got bolt ons but the kid could only run a low 14 at the track. I did that bone stock. Were going back by the end of May and Im wondering if I should order some corvette 18s and try to find some tires to help tip the odds in my favor.

Has he done anything to it in the meantime? Is his auto or manual because his will be far more consistent if he's an auto. Also, how much can the axles take if you put drag radials on before they snap?

Darkne said that the LT1 was a manual so depending on the driver he may not be to consistent. But since Darkne also has a manual he gets the 3.23 LSD with the L99 drive shafts. As long as he isn't launching at something past 4K RPM and just dumping it he should be fine with the stock axles and his power. I know someone running 700HP at the fly on the stock 3.23 in a L99 and he hasn't broken one yet

Yes but that's an auto. The auto's are a lot easier on the axles than the manuals. There's a bunch of stock power v8s breaking axles as soon as they put sticky tires on their cars. Hell, a guy I know who has a v8 making about 650 to the wheels (well he used to) broke his 1400hp rated axles

Hasn't done a thing and its manual. If our manual cars had stronger clutches and synchros from the factory you could run a safe 8 pounds of boost with forced induction and have a relatively bullet proof car. The stock clutch and synchros will give out way before the rear breaks a thing.
