Engine bay cleaning
Sorry if this is a question that’s been answered many times but my search only showed posts over 3 years old. I’m just wondering what everyone is doing to keep the engine bay clean. Foaming and rinse? No rinse cleaner?
Thanks |

Steam would be my go to. Not much moisture and cleans very well. Once you get it clean a little pm will make your life easy.

Nope, no water in my engine compartment and around my electronics.
I use the same method as JEWLD plus a bunch of assorted brushes and compressed air. I don't use Armor All either like some of the youtube "experts" recommend since it attracts dirt and leaves behind a buildup that gets harder and harder to remove.

lol, you're too funny my brother!! Nah, the underside is pretty clean, not sure why, but no I don't clean under there. The wheels do come off once in a while so I can clean the wheel wells though, and the wheels I can clean outside to inside with them STILL on the car!! I can get to all of it between the spokes.

I’m not big on water in the engine bay either but it’s pretty difficult to reach every nook and cranny with a hand towel. Fortunately the engine bay stays fairly clean and I definitely outgrew armor all a long time ago. I’ll have to hunt down a steam cleaner once and a while and just stay after it with my detail spray. Thanks

May be worth paying a professional a one time fee to get it clean and you just maintain it.

I use the engine bright foam spray and then just hose it off every few months. Works great no problems. Been doing it for almost 2 years now.

^^^^ this is what I used to use on my "old school" muscle cars engines. Worked really good.

Compressed air and a detailing brush to remove all the loose dirt. I know a lot of people won't like the following part but I've cleaned some of the parts with some water and car soap, of course battery is not connected. Then Ill revisit everything that is wet with hot air to dry everything. Done it twice with no issues.

had a buddy with a fully restored GTO judge that used to do that every month or so.car never saw rain and usually took first place in car shows.he had special pads for the jack stands so he wouldnt scratch the paint on the chassis.you could see your face reflected off the floor pans...
