Header Wrap
Anyone else have the idea to header wrap the downpipes(lack of a better word)? Might cut down on underhood heat.

Well this is the LFX Forum. But what I'm talking about is wrapping the exhaust pipe from the heads to the cat. I wonder if that would be worthwhile. I've heard good things and bad things about header wrap(on headers).

The only good thing about header wrap is that it keeps the engine bay cooler. It drastically reduces the life expectancy of your down pipes / headers though.

What sort of efficiencies would be gained? I cruise at about 176'F, so I'm wondering what this would drop that temp to. I've only hit the strip once, but I never got anywhere near overheating and it was a pretty warm day.

Well if your thermostat is showing 176F, I imagine your engine bay would be hotter than that. A cooler ambient engine bay temp should affect intake air temperatures as well.

If you wanna get the engine bay temperature down, look into a vented hood. There's a lot of them, and you usually get more downforce as a bonus.
