Too true,
though Im not going to jump to conclusions just yet, Whipple hasnt said 100% NO just yet, they just strongly implied 95-99% NO. (remember this is actually my fault for ordering the wrong part) Right now were hoping for that 1-5%
would be nice if they were like many companies that would let me exchange products... its polished, so its not like a custom painted deal. Polished is a popular finish

While you're waiting, if you haven't done it already, post an ad up to thy and sell it with the condition that you're negotiating. There's a possibility that you may get you're money back or at least a good portion.

Where the kit was opened up and install was started, I can't see them taking it back as a straight swap.

Awesome b-day gift for your dad, too bad it didn't work out for you. I'd post it up in the for sale section or in your regional section to keep shipping costs down and reorder the right one.

Crappy situation to be stuck it, but you may have saved someone else from making the same mistake by not knowing there is a difference in the accessories on the crate motors.

Hope it all works out for you guys.

I'll post up when I hear what the verdict is. On my invoice it says returns (assuming new condition and undamaged) are 20% restocking fee. a worse case scenario I guess.
Hopefully we could get a break since we arnt returning, just exchanging.
As for selling the kit, its an option, but I dont think my old man is ready to jump on that just yet. we'll see. In retrospect getting the actual 'kit' was a waste, as most of the pieces we arnt using. Including airbox, filter, brackets, whipple heat exchanger ect. (all for sale BTW lol)

Good news! first off thanks to hendrix-engineering, they gave me some ideas/ thoughts even though I havent bought anything from them.
I talked to the right guy at whipple directly and they will authorize the exchange if needed. Just need to figure out if we need to exchange the whole kit or just the charger itself.
Either way, its great that when you talk to the boss man, they dont hesitate to keep the customer happy. +1 whipple

Thanks guys, Only thing left is to find a small spring loaded belt tensioner,
(any ideas welcome, thanks again Hendrix)
The aftermarket tensioner from whipple seems to big to fit (and goes where the A/C is), and the tensioner that came with the aftermarket A/C is to weak (bout half as strong)
A dedicated pulley would be easier if there was room for it.....
custom work is fun...

Things are working out , thought I would mention the guys at TORQ, (Eric and Paul)
have been great helping me out with my mistake. Looking like we're going to go ahead and get a custom ground cam from TORQ, and a custom dyno tune once everything is up and running

Just wanted to post a little update,
I'd also like to say I think it SUCKS when ppl feel the need to have to post on a forum to get some customer service......on May 10th my Dad gave Eric his visa number for a custom ground Torq spec cam kit $1700 (though a high price compared to others, we dont mind spending a bit more for customer service) Eric had said a week or 2 tops. Over the next 6 weeks with various emails and messages left asking for tracking numbers, finally on june 26 the guys at Torq said the Cam /kit had arrived and was ready to ship, there was a lack of LS cam cores at comp cams reason being the time frame (the guys at comp cams that I talked to were un-aware that they had this problem, but perhaps I talked to an employee that was un-infromed)
So on the june 26th Eric said he would ship out the cam/kit that day, My dad was going to be at his condo in USA, (so he could save about $200 on tax exemption) so Eric said it wasnt a problem to ship it to his condo) while at the condo again, after various phone calls and up to 6 emails a day by July 8th, no response, no tracking number, no cam. Than an email came from TORQ, saying they didnt ship it because of July 4 and they thought the cam wouldnt make it to his condo in time. Either way still no cam, no tracking number, and my Dad is getting a tad inpatient, doesnt look like he'll have the car together this year...
