Oil Pump issue. Is the L99 just as prone?
Ok so over the summer a lot of members were reporting that their oil pumps would fail due to a stuck relief valve. Oil pressure would subsequently drop and some unfortunate members even suffered catastrophic failures. A solution to this problem was to "shimmy" the relief valve to prevent it from getting stuck. Originally I thought all 6.2's had this issue, but then a member in the thread below stated that L99's actually use a different pump, one with a "wider pump gear".
Does that therefore mean that L99's are immune to this oil pump failure or not? See post #19 and 20. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...l+pump+failure Last edited by Raptor626; 09-29-2011 at 12:15 AM. |

Damn bro. That's a pretty huge job. How much do you estimate labor to be?

the oil pump was about 150, i alsodid the belt tensioner, dunno how much was...but if ur gonna do this its about 800 labor,,,i would spend another 2k for a full cam swap, with upgraded springs, retainer etc.

I think of this as more of a "do it if you're already in there" kind of thing. It seems like a waste to spend $1k to change just the oil pump on your stock engine when it's covered under a warranty.

I have the L99 and afte the lifter swap I have lots better oil pressure. Cold idle is 50lbs. Warmed up cruising is around 45psi if It quits I'm going to hold it to the floor. And let GM EAT IT
