Removing Front Grill ZL1 Badge

I know, I know, very important thread but I decided to de-badge my car and the only thing left is that tiny ZL1 badge in the front grill. How in the world does that thing come off? Thanks in advance!

I did mine a while back , it's way easier to do if you remove the metal plate around the front of the radiator
It's about 12 /15 screws but will save you lots of agravation then by doing it the other way

I'm guessing your going for more of a sleeper approach? All the ZL1 badges pretty much give the car away!

As far as removing the badge I can't help you there lol.

I replaced my bowtie and ZL1 emblem. The ZL1 emblem is held on by 3M tape and has two small tabs on the back of it. Gently work it off with a small screwdriver being careful as it is plastic.
This will leave a section of the grill that is formed in the shape of the emblem with holes for the tabs, so it is noticeable that it has been removed.
(and I had Jannetty Racing install their 100 HP package so 680 is accurate. Just in case anyone wondered)

^^ that's a cool custom badge. Not to burst your bubble, but Jannetty packages are RWHP and as the stock is 580 at the crank, with Jannetty's 100 RWHP kit, you should be closer to 700 hp. Maybe Ted should offer these badges with his kits, that would be a nice addition.

Thanks. I talked with Ted and he thought 100 at the crank was a fair estimate with the 75 rear HP package. I didn't want to overstate anything so I went with that. I plan on adding more so the badge will change. I made the 680 HP badge from chrome emblems I ordered online.

Pretty much. I just think it looks cleaner with everything off. Bowties, letters, badges. Paint and pipes are all that matters on the outside

Good to know. I'm assuming you pried it off from the outside and not from the top via the engine compartment?

Removing that grill badge is a pain in the neck. So was the bow tie, changed it with a black one. But for the grill ZL1 emblem I did t want that empty spot in the grill, so instead I bought a spray can of Plasti-Dip, $6, and blacked it out. Did the hood, and rear ones with Plasti-Dip as well. Oh, and the gas cover.

That is correct. All done from the outside.

When I had my 1LE I removed the SS badges to put on 1LE badges. The grill badge was the same with two alignment tabs on the back. I used dental floss to "saw" through the tape and slowly pull the badge off. I worked the floss up to, over and under the tab then pulled the badge out slightly to get the floss past the tab... Kinda slow but the floss left zero scarring and using mint floss it smelled nice.
