For me I think the biggest issue is warranty... Lets say a z28 is brought to market... If I leave it reasonably stock I can take it to any dealer and they'll fix it.

Not the case with aftermarket tuners.. Even though LPE, Hen, MTI, Nickey, Berger all have warranty service we'd have to go back to them...

But, I see the comparison between rousch and saleen etc....

There is a bit of a difference, though. Berger, Yenko and Nickey were all Chevrolet dealers. You bought your car from the dealership that made the modifications. I'm guessing, but I would think that liability would prohibit any major dealer from resurrecting the good old days.

The tuners you reference are all outside of GM. As I recall, Nickey is just some guys who revived the name from the old dealership.

So, and speaking for myself, the work done by these guys is no different than if I bought the parts and did it myself. And I wouldn't argue the point that others couldn't turn a wrench to do it themselves.

You are probably right, it might be better for resale down the road. But a lot depends on them staying in business too.

So for now, the alternatives are merely more experienced or higher volume tuners, but they aren't GM dealerships like the old days.

And to GTAs point, you are all in and covered at any Chevy dealership.............................if GM does do a Z28 (sorry Shnomac)

There has been no official press release regarding the Z/28....
But that doesnt stop dealers from making preorder lists just incase!

Chevrolet has not made an official announcement regarding the Z28. It is currently being fueled by a few comments by GM executives. There is no announced timing, content or pricing..............to Shnomac's dispmay (again, sorry Shnomac)

They might be taking deposits just in case. A guy who used to work for me did that with his Z06 well before the car was built or could be ordered. He got one of the first ones as a result. So basically the dealer would like to sit on your money as opposed to you sitting on your money. For that, he would likely be selling you a place in line to order from his/her dealership.

You can not even order a convertible yet and that HAS been announced.
