What makes you say twin turbo?? They came factory turbo in that body style. If it had some work they aren't slow as long as the crank doesn't have a leash. If it had a few cheap upgrades they are faster than a v6.

I doubt twin turbo 4G63. Regardless, you wouldn't have taken him. 4G63s are damn near bullet-proof and love boost. Power-to-weight is his advantage.

I had a 4G63 swapped Mitsubishi Colt FWD with no upgrades other than suspension and chassis tuning. I was doing low 13s in the 1/4 and going against LS1-powered Gen 4s bone stock. I won more than I lost. I doubt your RS would have done the same. Sorry... just bringing reality to the table.

That wasn't a 4g63 car unless it was swapped. It would have a 420a hence my dog leash comment. And a greddy kit is just a bolt on turbo kit so it was a non turbo car with a bolt on turbo kit it sounds like. But unless the kid has crazy fab skills or a huge bank account it wasn't twin turbo as no manifold exists for that type of thing.

Possibly a 3000gt and not an Eclipes. They had a TT in the VR4s and AWD. He could have just swapped the factory turbos for Greddys. Factory Mitsu turbos usually burn out at 90k miles anyway. Swapping to an aftermarket turbo when they fry is common in both the Eclipse and 3000gt. I had a 92 Eclipse GS-T I traded in with 140k on it. Dealer was shocked that the factory turbos were still on and working.

I have a 3000GT VR-4 sitting in storage in Oklahoma. Upgrading to 15G turbos on that car isn't a HUGE expense nor is it that hard. Those cars with just a bit of money are screaming beasts. Breaking one can get really expensive though. I need to go out and pull that thing out of moth balls and get it back to the east coast so I can put it back together.

Actually those cars were available with the 4g63 of the 7-bolt variety. These are the ones that had crank-walking issues unlike the earlier 6-bolt 4g63. Not sure why you think it would have to be swapped since all the turbo 1g and 2g eclipses had a 4g63. Greddy made a ton of parts for those cars so I'm not sure how you can assume it was a 420a simply because the guy said it had Greddy parts in it.
