700 RWHP Michelin PSS or Nitto 555R?? Need help tire suggestions...

Need some help deciding on some tires. I have 2010 SS with over 700 RWHP.

I currently have the Nitto NT05R on the back now but I quit driving to the track and just driving around the streets like a weekend warrior. I could never really hookup with the drag radials so I can only imagine I won't with the options I'm looking at either.

I'm looking for some tires I can drive around the city and not worry about it if there is a 30% chance of rain that day with decent hook ups. Ive been caught in a rain storm with my NT05r's and had to pull over due to almost crashing.

I'm open to other options also!

I've daily driven on NT555Rs and NT05Rs. The latter could get sketchy when they are heavily worn.

New vs completely worn NT05R:

NT05R (worn) vs 555Rs (that had some miles on them)

I'm thinking about this right now too. I have to get really good drag tires for my 10.99 NA goal but 90% I need a tire that has some traction when I'm driving around otherwise my car is too much of a handful.

I might get a set of 555Rs since they lasted a very long time when I had 'em. I don't see me getting NT05Rs again but who knows. They did hook decent for me on at the track and somewhat on the street.

Are you guys referring to Michelin Pilot Super Sport? Do they really hook with +700rwhp?

A lot expensive, lol, over 1300 for a set in 275/35. I doubt they'll hold to 700 RWHP though, they might be a great tire, but they aren't a sticky tire. I seriously doubt you'll find any tire that is safe on the street in dry/wet that will "hook" with that kind of HP.

When you find it let me know lol. I don't drive mine unless it is nice outside so I may look at the MT's.

I put the mich pss on my vette after having all kinds of nittos on the camaro. Once the Michelin get warm they are pretty sticky. They ride and handle awesome as well. Nitto makes cheap tires. Fact. Nitto tires aren't the top of any performance category...but they are good. If you want a drag radial get a Mickey Thompson or M&H. If you want to run a radial just use some sense on the street.

Nothing will truly hook up 700+ rwhp but I have found these hook just as good if not better than Nitto NT05R's.... On the street... The best drag radial I have used has been the Mickey Thompson's....

So do you think I should make the investment on the PSS or just get MT street comps and run those in the ground?

So you are saying the Michelin PSS hook better on the street than the NT05Rs?

From what I read about them they are a very good handling tire, but I'm thinking since they are 300 tread wear rating they probably don't hook as good as the NT05R? Thanks in advance, I'm in the market right now for tires to run in back.

In my personal opinion and experience the drag radials wear out too quick.... I went with the pilot's because of the performance and wear... 15000 mile warranty... As for the Nitto NT05R's... I would NEVER EVER buy those tires again... They didn't hook at all on the street.... I did three runs with them at the strip...and even after good burn outs they didn't hook up... I spun all the way down the quarter mile...I also had them so called heat cycled which again for me was a complete waste of 60 bucks... But the topper is I wasn't hard on it that often on the streets and I got 3 passes at the strip and 800 miles on the tires and now they are shot.... The Mickey Thompson's hooked up better on the street. But the wear isn't very good on those either...better than the Nitto's... Just my experience....I ended up getting a set of 17 inch Bogarts and slicks and skinnies for the strip.. Hope this helps...
