At what temp are ZL1 1LE tyres safe to use

still cold was 48 today and still couldn't get traction even in snow and ice, what temp do these Goodyears actually begin to work at?

Around 40-45 degrees F IMHO
Go into performance settings from steering wheel and go to tires section and it will show you tires and u can monitor them as they warm up from cold to cool to warm and up etc.. havent made it past warm yet but I am assuming there is a hot as well

I would suggest 50° & up with dry pavement.

I have driven a z06 at on a race track in the mid 30s after a lap and a half of being cautious it was good to go. That being said until your tires warm up you need to be mindful about sharp turns or hard braking. Its not the end of the world. If you don't want to want to be mindful of anything i would say 50 and above on dry pavement

75 up is what I say, we don't get to cold out here and in 60+ days car did spin tires, now that it's warmer tires grip at any speed.

I test drove the zl1 1le that i ordered that came in damaged and it was 40 degrees f no issues driving somewhat normal. I did not take the nannies off. I did get on it a little but nothing serious as its not even close to my z06 till I change some things lol. My z06 has 100 rwhp more over stock and I am getting to the point where it needs more so the zl1 1le will get some goodies added if it ever get here in one piece

It has been 22 to 29 degrees here in the mornings and my ZL1 is doing just fine...of course I'm not rowing through gears or driving like I'm at a track. Drive normal and it should be fine.

The tires on our ZLE's like to be pretty warm to be sticky. For me, anything below 60 F, and I am careful about getting on it if not pointed straight, and even more cautious in turns. The dash does display 'tire temp', but I am more comfortable with how the car feels before I start pushing it. The more spirited driving, the faster they warm up. I only have about 900 miles on mine and think I am still getting the feel for it. For me, time in the driver seat, respect for power plant, and confidence in the chassis technology from the Camaro team, makes for fun driving experience.

I really dont understand why these auto manufacturers dont at least give u the option of getting a high performance all season tires. There is a huge part of the country where its cold or at least under 45 degrees for at least half of the year. They all do the same thing ford, gm, BMW, porsche etc only offer the cars with summer tires I mean what gives u spend $70k plus a car and the first thing u have to do is get proper tires installed. And I know some will chime in and say they drive the car and the tires are fine at 30 degrees these tires are like driving on hockey pucks unless they are properly heated up!
Does anyone know what gives???

Depends on your definition of "safe"...

If you can modulate your right foot and drive like there's some grey matter between your ears...It's fine all the way down to 40º...I drove on them routinely for that week or two in March where we had fair weather (albeit cold). Yes, tires spun all over the place. But even cold, hard, and compromised....the handling, and breaking limits are much higher than a regular car would be...so it's not "dangerous".

But - if you expect it to perform and feel like a ZL1 1LE ought to, and drive like that, then you could get into some trouble...

...That all said, I'm very seriously considering a second set of wheels/tires with some street rubber...sliding around is just no fun.

There's a multitude of reasons, many of which include the cost factor, I'm sure. For one; a car's traction control systems expect a certain type of tire on there. If you sell a car advertising xxx Gs, and xxx 0-60, etc...and then put an all-season on there, the driver may attempt to drive it as advertised, and could end up in a lot of trouble when the car starts sliding around. Orrr...the driver could throw a fit about performance not being there. And yeah, when it's cold the summer tires still slide around, but at least this way the OEMs can just toss a cold-temp warning in your face, and move on with their day.

Bottom line is the cars require the tires they spec in order to perform and function the way they do.

That all said: the option is in your wallet...go swap them out. Most know what they're getting into.

There's just a set of ranges: cold, cool, warm, hot...these are determined by a chip-temp sensor in the TPMS unit.

^^ at 45F with half throttle on the ice snow setting the car wanted to swap ends when I got up to 4k rpm, Im not complaining, the power is great! Its been so cold here, theres no way for me to know what the car is really capable of on warm tires

The owners manual says anything under 40F degrees is a no go. I for one am not worried about driving in the cold because of traction, that's easy to adjust for, it's the warnings about the tires cracking and coming apart under 40F that concerns me!

I've driven them down to about 25 degrees on my z/28. The car is crazy loose below 50. Below 30 the z/28 will spin with traction control on. On track I can get heat into them in the 35 - 40 degree range but it takes a few laps. No damage from moving the car on them in cold weather.

I agree for you to have fun in the car 70 - 75 degrees and warm pavement will be the sweet spot.
