My Road Rage is Legendary

Kiss my Transmission Goodbye ?? (Teaching Wife to Drive A Stick)
So.. I've had my baby for about 2 years now. The wife doesn't know how to drive a stick, and had no desire to learn on my car, knowing how much I love it, and not wanting to "Hurt the new car".
Well, the other day she declared proudly that "It was time to learn." Umm... heart thudding in my chest, sweat running down my forehead.. Her Traiblazer has a huge dent in the rear bumper where she backed into a tree, and is one of those drivers who is so cautious its dangerous. Like almost stopping on the on-ramp waiting to be able to merge.. My car's a daily driver, but still Car-Show worthy, if I so choose.. I am not overly excited about this prospect. My one true "Santuary" is being threatened. Maybe I'm over reacting. Maybe I'm just overly concerned. It's just a car.. shes my wife. But just as I want to share the rest of my life with her, I'm wanting to share the rest of my life with my car also... Does that make sense? Deep breath.. stay calm.. I guess my teaching skills will be put to the test. For my Transmissions/Tires sake, I hope I get it right the first time. Sharing over. (Now I need to go comfort my car, it's nervous as well...)

Rent a car with a manual trans for a day and have her learn on it.

Why will the clutch be wiped out? This isn't 1970 anymore. Clutches last a car's lifetime now.
I'd be more worried about an accident due to the student's driving techniques and past, um, issues, like backing into a tree and merging in a...less than optimum way

This! These cars are hefty and your clutch will be smoked in no time. Savor the smell of that thing melting to the flywheel. Ahhhh, that's a great aroma.

Sorry, I forgot. Most people can barely walk and chew gum at the same time.

Rent a car and take her to a big empty parking lot. Have her put the car in 1st and let the clutch out until she starts to move, then tell her to quickly push the clutch and brake in to stop. Repeat as nessasary. Once she gets first down the rest is easy. (Hills are another day)
