ZL1 Delivery Poll
When is the latest you would be willing to accept delivery on a ZL1?
March, April, May, June, July, August? Since we are unsure when production is set to start, how long it will take to build the vehicle, how long it will take to clear quality control and process for delivery. It is possible that ZL1's that are "rumored" to be built one week out of every month won't be available to some of us, that have pre-order our vehicles, as early as we would like. It is possible some of us that have pre-order our ZL1's won't receive them until very close to the 2013 model year. I just want to gauge what the rest of Camaro5 thinks about this subject. This is mainly directed at people who have pre-ordered their ZL1's but everyone feel free to chime in and vote. Since I'm a believer that all new threads should have a picture: If a moderator would be nice enough to add a 7th poll option: willing to accept delivery regardless of the month, I would appreciate that. Not that it matters to me much. If they build it, and the car has no issues when it gets delivered I will accept it. About the only exception and this is just me only, I am waiting for funds.... If for some strange reason mine does not get built prior and real close to the 2013 YM production or if I do not have all my funds in order, then I may have to let my car go to someone else and hold out for a YM '13 ZL1. Or at worst my funds don't come in full like I expect, then have to pass on it altogether, but I do not see that really happening.
My "Faith" tells me I will take delivery of my car as soon as they can get it here to me. But as far as your question, would delivery be so late so much that I cancel my order? No way Jose! I have been telling everyone my car will be here "Mid March" for some reason... hahaha! Ive said it before, and Ill say it again.. Im not getting off this roller coaster ride until the big bad red roller coaster is parked in my driveway!

I don't really get this question. I'll get it when I get it, and I'll be damn happy regardless of when my 2012 ZL1 gets delivered (if anything, I'm pulling for a little bit of a delay to prevent a winter delivery).
There have been many of us that have waited nearly 3 years for this vehicle, a few months delay past the ideal delivery time ain't changing a thing for me. Nice pic though, it's one of my favorites.

I'm with Shurenuff here. I hope to drive this car for decades, so the month it gets delivered doesn't matter - option seven I suppose.

IMO, anything past the end of May and you shouldn't take delivery of the car, it's already 6 months old and still considered a new car.
I will wait until July-Aug and place an order for a 2013 and hopefully see it delieved in Oct-Nov timeframe. I'm not buying a six month old car when I can wait another six months and get 2013 model in 2012. |

I dont think many people are worried about buying acar when it comes out and being 6 months old. Unless you are planning on trading it in fairly soon it simply doesnt matter. And if that is the case you shouldnt be buying one at all. This is a car to buy and hold onto.

If you are going to pay $60k for a car, do you want it to be six months old when you buy it or 3 months newer? There are so many factors against many folks that want to buy this car, allocation being the biggest issue so why rush to be first?
Color constaints is another factor...if you plan to buy this car and the color you want doesn't come off constraint hold until May-June, are you really going to buy a 2012 at that time when the 2013 is orderable? Who really plans to do that? All I'm saying is If you plan to hold this car forever, make sure it's exactly what you want, even if you have to wait another six months for a 2013. |

Ok, lets see your math here.... How do you figure its 6 months old? ;I guess you are referring to the model year? So...... then how can a GT500 that gets delivered in May of 2012 be a 2013? In that case the car would be + 7 months new. I get what you are saying, but I guess I don't get the logic really behind it cause it is an objective issue we could argue till the moo moo's come home.

One thing to keep in mind...not that we will know for a long projected time, and it may never up mattering at all.... but the 2012 will be a short run... Ie, ones that DO take a delivery of a 2012.....will have more chance of the "rare" factor coming into play as far as production numbers, colors...etc..... A 2013? Not as much 'rare' factor if any at all... Probably more will be produced. Only time will tell... But yea, I can see if you are already into the MY 13 when you take delivery, I could say there is a good chance that people might let them pass on to someone else.... and hold out for a YM 13' as in my case. I might not really have any choice in the matter in my situation... BUT... I do prefer taking the YM 12 over the YM 13 just for the fact that I want a YM 12 if under God's green heaven it turns out that way... Im 95% prepared... I have already ordered plates that will expire in April or so any way for the car... that will expire..... I have lost a $500 deposit as of this writing waiting on this said car.... I want the darn thing period.... LOL...... Even if I have to wait till the moo moo's come home...

I live in WI where I will probably park it sometime in November. So if I can get it a month before I can get a 2013, that's a win because I will be able to drive it that much longer before I park it.
And who's to say that if it gets to be late in the year and I decide to order a 2013 that I will even see that one right away. My luck it would get delivered at first snowfall and I could do nothing but look at it for 3 months or so. Long story short, does not matter to me when it gets here. If I could choose a date, I'd say April, but won't be a deal breaker if doesn't.

Geesse after seeing that pic of that cow, I may never eat beef again .
I'm not sure what the original poster question was. But as far as when I would like to recieve my car. Well late April to early May is fine for me, this allows me more time for a larger down payment. I would rather have it during these months then in Feb or March when the temp would still be around freezing. With the issues and concerns about how the tires will hold up during the winter months. I want to recieve this car when its a bit warmer. I'm not going to sell this car anytime soon, and this car is worth the wait. It's back to my roots and GM! sorry Honda move over its time to have fun again.
