Body and Paint Shop Gurus' got a question regarding plastic on exterior

On the slight texture on the ABS rear diffuser, grill, and XM ant can that be prepped and painted where you wont see any texture? I had good luck with smaller parts but never tried a grill or diffuser before.

Does the plastic have to be sanded down all the way or can you spray some sort of polyester primer surfacer over the plastic to cover the texture?

I am most concerned on the rear diffuser since its alot of material to sand and its flimsy as heck already.

I just hate the texture of these parts.

we use a flex addative poly primer for the plastics which allows it to bend you could prbly scuff your plastic down and spray that and then spray color and clear with the flex addative in it also

I've always used a plastic adhesion promoter (bulldog) first. First clean with denatured alcohol then use a red scothbrite, apply adh. promoter then use a good 2 k primer with flex additive in then sand smooth then apply paint. It should come out like the body. !!

Sounds good because my diffuser is already turning white from the wax. I am going to have the diffuser done in a satin black but i want it smooth.
I have seen lots of butchery in NY for attempts to paint plastic on Range Rovers and Bimmers.
I also want to fill in the waffle design where it meets the bumper so its smooth.

Ohter parts will be body color gloss.

the poly primer will just build it up then you will need to block it out smooth
