rearview mirror from 2012 on a 2011 Convertible

Hello everybody,

I'm from Germany and drive a 2SS RS Camaro Convertible from 2011.

To retrofit a reversing camera, I bought a used rearview mirror from 2012 on eBay. After the purchase, I found that this only has three buttons on the front. A fourth button to turn on or off seems to be missing.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-2012-C...53.m2749.l2649

Can you tell me if the mirror really has a display, as the seller says? What else do I need to operate the display?

Many thanks for your help!

The camera should be off unless car is put into reverse. It has to be wire into the reverse light power in order to turn on display. If the kit has all the wiring as shown, the RCA is the video feed and the red and black wires are what you would want to tap into the reverse light harness. What seems to be missing is the camera itself. Without a camera, you will have no video feed.

thank you for your help. It's good to know that the mirror actually has a display.

In the picture, however, I see no kit and no cables, which is why I assume that none are included. Is there a ready-made cable set for this mirror?

The camera is of course not included, that's clear. I would like to buy one myself to have a good quality.

Ok. So when I pulled up the link, it took me to a different "simular item". Without seeing exactly what you purchased, it would be hard to say. Have you already received the item? If so there should be a GM part # stamped on it that you could look up for more details. As far as cables, that should be something that could be aquired as well, if they were not included. Cohld you posta pic of said part in question?

Thanks already for your help!

I received the mirror today. This is it:

Can you tell me what I need in addition to a camera for the use of the display? Where do I connect the camera?

Is the plug on the mirror different from your factory harness that plugs into yours? Also, if it is a factory installed unit, you will most likely have to purchase a factory installed camera, so its all plug and play.

Hello guys, I've done it now and expanded my mirror. In the appendix you can see pictures of the connection cable as it is in the car. The new mirror with display fits mechanically into the car and the plug fits. But the new mirror has one more pin (# 10 on the plug). My car has no cable at this point. Can one of you help me? Does the pin still need to be supplied with any signal? Where can I connect the camera (eg an original GM camera)? Thank you for your help!

Would that missing pin, be the reverse triggering wire? Just thinking this, since yours didnt have it from factory. Will probably have to get schematic to see for sure. Can anybody chime in on this, or would anyone have access to the wiring diagram to possibly confirm this?

Hi Guys,

under the following link a scheme of the plug is shown.

* I can not tell from the description, which pin delivers the video signal to the mirror. Anybody of yours offering an idea?
