Here in Montreal, Canada, we have a law against using cell phones and texting while driving.

Yep here inGa. they just made illegal to text and drive. think its like a 150$ fine if you get caught(1st offense). And if you have an accident I think they can check your phone to see if u were texting at that time!!

Your lucky and very smart to wave that clown on

9 months ago i was driving a 99 civic and one day i was driving w/my 12 yr
old daughter taking her friend home and got rear ended while i was stopped
mind you, to take a left turn by a 20 yr old kid texting at 40 mph in ford ranger.
Everyone was ok thank god,but the car was totaled.

I posted this same post on an iPhone blog that I belong to. I actually got a couple of people that posted in defense of this careless practice! I could not believe it! Seriously?! Pure stupidity!!!

Here in massachusetts, starting in october a new law for anyone with a JOL it is illegal to use ANY type of electronic device even if it has bluetooth and all that stuff. One your 18 you can TALK on the phone i believe. I hate when people are talking about it. I hear conversations where kids are like "while I was driving i was texting this kid..." I really irritates me ho stupid people are. And i'm 17!

Glad see that even some of the younger drivers already see how dangerous this is. What does that say about some of the older folk still practicing this type of behavior!???

Looked in my rear view mirror yesterday and the lady behind me was putting on mascara... going 60... I'm very glad a deer didn't jump out in front of her, it would not be pleasant having a mascara wand plunge into your eye at 60, I think this is a good practice to avoid while driving also.

Yes....it's the news I look forward too all day....

I don't care what people text or post or whatever -- as long as it's not in a car while behind the wheel -- I have had enough issues with people NOT on their friggen phones hitting me....

Oh yes! I have read your story. Sorry to hear of your bad run in with mayhem. I really hope that once your car is fixed that it stays that way.

And the thing is it probably won't be enforced. There are a ton of laws i learned about in drivers ed classes that i didn't know existed BECAUSE they are not enforced.

Don't feel bad about it, I do the same when I see people behind/beside me on their phone. Or a woman.
