Need help with VHT Nightshades...

OK... i just bought a nissan rogue for winter and i just painted my tails with VHT Night shades and everything was going smoothly until i put on my 3rd coat. the first 2 coats came out awesome but the 3rd one went all cloudy/hazy on me. i think it was the humidity but i dont understand why the first 2 went so well... i waited a good amount of time between coats so the first 2 had plenty of time to haze up if they were gonna. Does any1 have an idea of what could have went wrong? Did i put the 3rd coat on too thick? Did i not shake the can enough?

I already stripped the VHT with gasoline and i'm about to start over but i dont want to make the same mistake again!

Here are some pics...

This is me wet sanding down the lights with 2000grit

Me taping off the side plastic and my reverse lights

First coat

Second coat

Third coat

Then about 15-20 mins after the third coat they began to dry all cloudy/hazy and this was my end result

I peeled the tape of the reverse lights for the final coat so they could get 1 coat of tint but still be bright when in reverse so i could see behind me

They look great with just 2 coats anyway. That 3rd coat looks terrible. Wonder what happened?

I don't know... I was hoping some1 with some painting experience or experience with this product or situation could tell me so i don't make the same mistake twice. I'm thinking i laid it on too thick the 3rd time...i got a lil careless and cause a couple runs on the 3 coat too. Hopefully 2nd times a charm in thia case LoL

And yea i was really like them after the 2nd coat but i wanted my reverse lights to have a light smoke tint so i went for the 3rd... I sid consider sticking with the 2 though... But the fact that i sanded the reverse light section before i taped up i wasnt sure if the dullness would show through the clearcoat. And thats the main reason i went with the 3rd coat.

I've never used the product, does it say good for that many coats applied? I would say just the amount of product put on. I'm with Tx1lt, looked great with 2 coats.

I remember this happened to me when I did the tail lights on my old truck. I finished my final coat of vht and I noticed the tail lights started getting foggy, so I quickly put one under a heat lamp and the fogging stopped and actually went away. If I remember correctly the night I sprayed the tail lights was humid so I think that's your problem.

One thing about using VHT, spray even consistant flow across the tail light. Let the tail light dry for about 30 minutes before you spray again. The longer the better, and if you see any flaws, use 1000 grit sandpaper and wet sand it to smooth out imperfections.

Yes, I did with mine. Just waited about 30-40 mins between coats.

I wet sanded between coats and polished them after the clear coat. They stayed shiny, I sold the car.
