How long to make J tubes if needed?

OK ordered the Gibson 32001 axle back exhaust for my 2011 V6 convertible. Been reading here and listening on You tube. If I run into the dreaded drone, how long do the J tubes need to be to cancel out the drone at 2000 RPM? Debating between having them installed with exhaust or try some Dynomat in the trunk. Question 2? does Dynomat even work in the trunk if you have a vert?

I have a vert and can tell you that Dynomat does work some but doesn't get rid of the drone you will probably get. I have the Solo Mach setup with J pipes and ther is no drone. I know there are people who have bought just the J-pipes from Solo. They have adjustable caps as the range of drone on these v6's is not the same from car to car.

Solo can sell you just the j-tubes and you can adjust them -- that is what I did when I did the muffler delete -- worked well! I took them to a muffler shop, had them weld them on and I just adjusted them for the 'speed' I drove -- that way, I didn't need to 'cut' them a certain size -- I could just loosen them and adjust as needed...

Just call or PM them. They were great to work with...

I may have to go with the Dynomat and hope... It looks like the Solo J pipes would be trying to occupy the same space as the Gibson Mufflers. Once I get the Gibson's unpacked, and the stock suitcases removed, I can do more measurements. I didn't realize they are adjustable. Thanks...

Dynomat will not help with drone.....The pipes do not need to be J shped, it is the length that will kill the drone.

Yeah it's the tuned length to cancel out the resonance. I didn't realize they where adjustable but after looking close I see the clamps for tuning.
I was just wondering the approximate length. It's just the Solo J pipes (generic term) will not fit with bigger Gibson oval mufflers. I will just have to give it a try, allot of Gibson owners report no drone. Thanks...

Just what the Dr. ordered...

Big Red, Thank you very much. Even better than expected. Wish the Solo J tubes would fit but this is the next best thing. Allot of the Gibson fan boys report no drone, I hope to join them, but I'm now prepared if needed.

Gibsons installed no drone...

Well installed the Gibson's Saturday morning. Been cold here in Phoenix but with the top up there really doesn't seem to be much drone. Maybe a touch from 1800 to 2000 but any movement of the throttle and it's gone. My only complaint is for the first 20 seconds or so after a cold start it sounds raspy. After the fast idle kicks out couldn't be happier. Should be back up in the mid to upper 60's by Saturday I can take it for a cruise with the top down...
