Drove a Friend's C6 Z06
Hi my friend let me drive their 09 c6 z06. Wow what a fast car. You can see in my sig what mods I have but is there anything besides huge work or a supercharger to get our Gen5's to that level? Either that or I'm considering searching and getting one.
Thanks!

By not knowing how to modify your car to get the same performance, you should just go buy one.

Not sure what you mean by that I was wondering if gears or a cam would be compareable

The answer is no. You should start your search.

LOL Hard to overcome 600 pounds and 80 horsepower. You can get there with a good bolt on set up and light clutch with 4.10 gears. Your going to spend about 7 grand doing so.....Used Z06 can be had for around 30k respectively.

If I got one id be selling my Camaro..think a c6 z06 or grand sport would be a good trade for what I have now? Probably would have to put in 10k or so

The weight makes a tremendous difference. Add in the HP and more aggressive gearing, and it's a COMPLETELY different experience. If you can live without back seats, it's a way better performance option.

I used to own a '09 Z06. They are definitely fun to drive. I have had a few setups on the Camaro so far for comparison.
The closest I had that feels similar to a Z06 performance was the suspension mods in my sig, 3.91 gears, and a cam w/ supporting mods which made 484 rwhp. That was close, but my Z06 made 429 rwhp stock with just a catback. I then added an ECS supercharger which I then put me beyond the performance of a stock Z06 with+700 rwhp. So if you really want to keep the Camaro then I would go in that direction, but be prepared to spend some $$$. If you decide to get a Z06, I would definitely try to find one that has done some head component upgrades. I went through two engines under warranty due to valvetrain issues.

I often wonder why GM did not bring out a C7 with an updated NA 427. I think it would be perfect in the Grand Sport. I would guess it would be in the 550 RWHP range and sell like hot cakes. As to what you would need to do to a 5th gen to get to the C6 Z06 braking, handling ,acceleration ,and top speed your way over the top . I do not see it being even close to feasible . If you sell the Camaro and buy a C6 Z06 you would be far better off monetarily. As for resale value of a modified 5th gen vs a C6 Z06 FORGETABOUTIT.

As a previous C6 z06 owner and current ss owner, I’d say just buy the z. For the price z’s are going for now you could probably keep your camaro as is and buy the z for the price of making a camaro perform like a z. There’s nothing like a c6 z imo. I’ve yet to ride in another car (including a friends 690 hp sc 5.0) that I think could take my old z with a cai and catback.

Z06 literally has the lamest gearing for acceleration. They finally released a ring and pinion for them recently. 3.90s in one and your can play in the 140s in 4th still lol

MM6 ratios, right? I always thought that was a nice spread. I didn't realize they had a 3.42 final - 3.90 must be way more fun!

They are like a 1LE first gear is long for the road course and then they ratios tighten up.
