Anybody recommend an alarm/security system for the camaro?

I realized long ago that it doesnt come with an alarm system...
any recommendations

I am talking about something that will scare the hell out of people trying to mess with my car or trying to break in.
I tried to see if any type of alarm goes off when I tried to jack open my door and nothing happened.

aftermarket? or factory built?

So, you want a camera and a blackbox built into your car? Most car security systems are there to prevent your car from getting stolen, not to prevent vandalism.

What I am looking for is an alarm system
Does a 5th gen camaro come with one?

If the alarm system comes with a video recorder with reasonable price then it would be best

Sorry OP, seems like a lot of people feel like being 's today

I have seen people install Viper alarms on their Camaro's and they seem pretty sensitive to touch.

VIPER.....

It also has a lot of add-ons you can add on to the alarm.

For example..

1. Proximity sensors....you can have your windows rolled down and if someone were to reach into your car without touching anything the alarm would go off.

Another proximity sensor when someone gets within 5 ft of your car it gives a warning.

2. Wheel tilt....Alarm goes off when it feels the car not leveled when someone tries to steal your wheels

They have a lot more!

And for all you knuckle heads the factory alarm only goes off if the car is opened without the keys or remote. So someone could take a spark plug smash it, take a piece of the broken spark plug throw through your window. Then it shatters, push the window through climb through the window and take everything they want inside the car and then push the trunk button. Climb back out the window so the alarm doesn't go off. Then go through your trunk and you wake up to a burglarize camaro!

Pretty much.

Besides, someone scratching your ride won't set off a shock sensor anyway.

Even if you did capture the audio/video, the police aren't going to do anything but file a report.

If you managed to get an identity on the vandal, it's on you to waste your time and money taking them to court and hope you'll collect a dime from them.

Best advice:
Onstar > lojack
Have the number for a good paintless dent repair guy and detail shop on standby
Get a low comprehensive deductible on your insurance
