Help! Should I get a 13 or 14 vert??? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I almost close a deal on a v8 vert Hot Wheels 2013, my son who's 21 said dad forget that and get the 2014 he says the 14 is cooler looking dad, the new rear lights the new front makes the Camaro look like a real race car... I like the half moon tail lights from day #1, to me way cool, the Hot Wheels front end grill looks great with the 21' wheels I dig... I'm on the fence, tell me your thoughts... My son thinks its not a good deal for the Hot Wheels package...

I have to say I had been toying with the idea of trading my 2011 2ssRs coupe for an orange convertible. I decided to wait for the 2014 before pulling the trigger. For the past couple of days I have tried to like it but I have come to the conclusion that I really don't. I keep thinking that I'll get used to it and that LED's are better. However, the 10-13 taillights do look better. it's not even a question. also there's no orange in 2014 and for you there's no hot wheels. it's the exact same drivetrain so for me, I'm getting the one that I think looks better (2013). The only thing the 14 has is that it's newer but I just can't get into it despite trying.

btw i don't know what he means that the new tails make it look like a race car. I think they make it look like a sedan.

If your son is paying for it then let him decide for you. If it is your hard earned cash that is funding this then it is entirely up to you. Most people on this site have trashed the new design..especially the tail lights. Personally I don't feel that strongly about them. I prefer my 2013, but I don't hate the new lights as others do. The front end is a little different on the 2014 as well, with the new vent on the SS. While this is functional in so much as it helps dissapate engine heat and helps with downforce. I don't think these two issues are overly important....overheating is not an issue with my car and not many are legally driving so fast that front end downforce is an issue. Again, this comes down to what you prefer from an asthetics standpoint. This has been a long winded way of saying get/order exactly what you want/like and to hell with everyone else's opinion.

Tell your son if he wants a '14 he can go buy one.

I would get a 13, just not a 6k Rip Off package on it. 1LE is the way to go!

Gah, I missed that, either way, I would steer clear of the HW package, Kinetic blue may just be a colour on the 14's.

It's your money, get what u want. I personally like the 10-13 tail lights better, but unlike most on here, I don't hate the 14s. I've got a heritage grille in mine, so I like my front end better also, but I think I like the 14 grille better than the standard 10-13 grille. If I wanted a 14, I don't think the tail lights would be a show stopper for me.
