CZ Shadow 2

Looking at getting a CZ Shadow 2, anyone have one and can lend some insight? Also looking at the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Ported M&P9L HI VIZ with Fiber Optic Sights.
Thanks, Jim

Just ordered a Sightmark red dot sight for the AR. I had a cheap ADE sight and it took a carp Saturday on the range. This Sightmark is rated to take 50 cal so it should handle a 5.56 with no problem. No that the weather is cooling down in AZ ill be hitting the range more often.

I've got a few CZ's my most recent is a black, Shadow 2. I am VERY impressed. It is accurate, HEAVY (47 ounces) , minimal recoil with a very SMOOTH slide cycle...Meaning...it shoots smoothly....NO slam/bang when the slide functions. Reminds me of my Wilson CQB or my SIG X5 in the "smoothness" Department.

Decent trigger, both DA and especially SA. Good sights...EASY to shoot well. Surprisingly quick to get back on the sights after a shot. Easy to shoot fast..like steel challenge.

Good luck finding one. I searched for a month or so...finally lucked into one on GunBroker.

Are you a CZ Forum member?

Tricky part with CZ is the location of the controls. Either they work for you or they don't. I have had 2 including a Tactical Sport.
I agree with the above post. Sweet shooting. Effortlessly accurate, etc.
But If your thumb gets to high the controls start messing with you.
The thin slide is not easy to rack as well.
Great shooter but not for everyone. Try before you buy.

Are you a member there? I'm on a Tanfoglio forum, never joined CZfirearms, but a nice place to lurk

Do you have big hands? Mine are average, son has a little smaller hand, I never heard that complaint... I have the Isreali variant of the CZ75, and an IFG Tanfoglio variant of the large frame 85, they both fit my hand well, but the 75 feels like it was made just for me. Now the slide does feel strange at first if you're used to racking big fat pigs like the Glock

The slide is thin and shallow, being internal rail, rather than external rail like everyone else. The (non adjustable) rear sight is designed for racking the slide one handed, can use the edge of a table, side of your belt, crease in your jeans, etc. etc.
I never noticed, other than the width and height, it being more difficult to rack than any other.... but it is a different feel. I noticed it the first few times shooting it, don't even notice anymore.

Yes a member over on the "Original CZ Forums".

My newest acquisition. SIG 220, in 10mm. A Lipsey Special. They had SIG do a run of FDE , all steel guns, nite sights, black controls, black G-10's. A shop I frequent in Missoula, Selway Armory, had one. so I pulled the trigger.

Been wanting a 10mm 220 since they came out. Always some other Iron in the Fire. So decided to jump on this one.

Accurate. Reasonable recoil. Good DA/SA pulls, but the SA has a hint of creep. Hope that wears in. Otherwise a trip to the Sig Armorer for a trigger job.

Put about 60 rds through it today in a rushed range visit. NO issues.

Holy shit but does it ever toss ejected cases! Like 40 feet! Talk about Positive Extraction!

And it seems to shoot the 165 and 180 gr handloads that my 1006/1076 Smith tens like...Just fine. So no need to fool around trying other loads.

Maybe it's a 10mm thing... my Tanfo throws brass so hard I can hit two targets with one round!

You don't happen to have an ex- FBI pistol do you?

Yes I do. One is an ex VA State Police, the other is an FBI gun. Both like new in original boxes, 4 mags, etc.

Also have a pair of the CS-1, 686 Customs revolvers too. Both a 3" and a 4".

None for sale. Sorry.

The 220 with it's energetic brass tossing...Reminds me of shooting an HK G-3/91. Those guys could toss brass! Once shot a coyote with my HK 91 that was an especially troublesome bugger and tough to see. Saw him one morning, was in the F-150, so shot him out of the Window. Was all happy ,until I noticed my dinged windshield. Damaged from the INSIDE ,from the ejected .308 case.

The Gov't S&W 10mm's have turned out to be nice collectibles, considering they were selling so cheap as surplus back in the day, nice grab.

At least you didn't jump out and shoot from (through) your hood! Windshield damage is just 'patina'
