So , in trying to keep from traveling with my keys I locked them in my car and figured I'd use the app to unlock the vehicle. Evidently onstar powers itself off so you or they are unable to unlock remotely. The good news is the car wasn't joyrided by my kids or thier friends.

Quite odd as I have remote unlocked my car a month after it sitting.

Yeah I don't understand why onstar would turn off. How long was it sitting? Mines sat for a week straight no issues.

I heard that if your deep inside a parking structure the On-Star can't track you so a signal can't be sent to unlock your car.

so if this is true, jack the rear of the car up and place on rollers and roll it out or as close to out as you can and maybe then they can unlock it. Maybe!!!!!

It's a cell phone signal that does the connection piece between the car and OnStar so if you can't get a signal, you can't get OnStar.

So it's your contention that Onstar is keeping you from using their services? Why would they do that? Do they dislike you? Is this, like Jaws V, personal? Do you owe them $?

It was only seven days. Onstar was the ones that told me this ( don't know if I believe )
They sent roadside assistance to slim jim it. I don't live in a weak cell area.
Anyways, just a FYI.

Onstar doesnt turn it off unless you dont pay. Never depend on the App. it doesnt always work. Its probably a problem with your phone and the app. phone to onstar via your data plan onstar to car via satellite. the app on my phone has to reset almost every month.
