When I was looking at buying my first newer Camaro a few years back now, I looked at the 6th gens as a option. For myself I just couldn't get past the 6th gen styling. Performance wise out of the box they have it over the 5th gens no doubt. I haven't regretted not once picking my outdated, overweight slow pig (according to some) 1LE as my toy. This is the first car were i have basically left it pretty much stock becuase it just feels right as is. And being honest, I will never reach the full potential of what this car can take whether on the street or track.

I don’t really hate the 6th Gen, but it’s not at the same level of love for me as a 5th in any way. I’d like to have one of each one day. I had to be an adult a few months ago and buy a Yukon Denali for my wife and kids to cruise in, so I don’t think I’ll be into a 5th and 6th for a while lol. Damn adulting.
I dont hate it either.. in fact 2 of my friends hace them. They are damn fast. But i dont like the bs people post without knowledge. Just be careful not to get banned haha.

Each car has their pros and cons. Gen 6 has terrific all around performance but I wouldn’t pass up a ZL1.

I wouldnt bother with the 6th gen unless it was at least the 1le. The SS just doesnt do it for me in the looks. The 1le looks far better and is a beast if an all round car.My other buddie with the Lt1 has a real quick car stock. Heres our run at the track with a garbage start line due to fuel and oil being puked out by a few bikes and ricer hondas. You can hear me spinning for quit a while...he did tree my ass. They run well.

Nice run, looked like you chased him down pretty good. Lol I’ll do my best to behave and not get into trouble. Aside from the two biggest jackasses that we’re ever on this site I treat all Camaro owners pretty good, we might rib each other at times but at the end of the day I get way more satisfaction messing with the Ford and dodge sissies. Us Camaro guys are a brother hood even if most aren’t lucky enough to have cars as good looking as the first and 5th gens

The OP must be trolling bc there is no comparison. The ZL1 is hands down the better car.

As far as the 6th gen guys talking crap about 5th gen, ask them which car is increasing in value more. In 5 to 10 years you won’t be able to find a 5th gen to buy.

You sir are exactly right. My 6th gen buds and i dont bash each other. We beat on the Hellcat owner and the few Mustang guys in the group pretty good. I ran out if room chasing him but ran quicker then he did. Track was shit..I ran a 12.3 at 118mph. Never did better the a 2.0 sixty. A friend of mine has the exact car and setup...runs 11.8 at 112. So i know my car is capable. Here is some Hellcat trashing haha.

No question you will love the ZL1 way more. That supercharger whine, you can't beat it!

What self-respecting 5th-Gen-er could pass this thread up? How many times have we seen a 5th gen-er ask about mod after mod that basically adds up to a ZL1? Then someone says, ‘dude, save yourself some busted knuckles and headache and buy a ZL1.’

I love my SS. I’d love a ZL1. I’d REALLY LOVE a 2015 Z/28. I have zero yearning for a 6th Gen anything. But momma didn’t raise no fool, I’d happily accept a 6th Gen ZL1 as a gift. Inquire within!

depends what the op wants.
as a future classic and sound investment then go zl1.

if you only want the car for a few years and want a car that drives like us in europe expect then go for the gen6.
i owned two gen 5 camaros and loved both..but the gen6 is a way better car to drive. i jumped straight out of my 2012 camaro after a 3 hour drive and straight into my 2017.
wow what a difference. felt so rock solid and nimble. i was amazed the difference.
being from the uk i say get the gen6 2ss.
plus the gen6 has every creature comfort you could ever want and more. climate control.
vented seats. apple car play. magnetic suspension. active exhaust.
both are great cars but the gen6 is just a better car.

or just forget both and buy an s550 mustang. RHD one

not really disputing anything but....
The ZL1 also has climate control. Pretty sure Camaros since the 1st gen had that.
Vented seats they dont have but they do have heated seats.
Apple car play they dont have.
Magnetic suspension, the ZL1 that was standard, couldn't get any other suspension on the Z.
Active exhaust is basically dual mode exhaust. Only difference is that the "active" is electronically controlled so the mylink interface can control the exhaust to allow a half way open rather than just open/closed. While the ZL1s exhaust is controlled off of vacuum.

My 2010 SS has 'vented seats', unless those little holes in the bottom cushion aren't 'vents'.

Vented seats aren't all that. I have to replace the seat covers in my Denali because the perforated bottom cover doesn't last as long as the rest of the leather. My wife always tells me to use the cooled seats because she likes it warmer. I really don't dig the cold butt action.

Electronics get dated so fast. If you just want a short term DD, the Gen6 is probably your ticket, but if all that crap is so great, why is the Camaro that can turn heads away from the Gen5s a Gen1 and not the Gen6.

My buddies 6th gens are nice. I dont care about all the current tech. I have more of that then I need in my 2021 Acura Rdx A spec. And 2019 Titan Pro4x. .i dont use it all anyway. When i climb into my fbo cammed 5th gen that old school muscle car feeling is everywhere. Ya ya the 6th gen rides great handles better and all that but it just doesnt seem to know what it is. Acitive exaust isntcas good as a stout cam with longtubes and Corsa..i dont even have gps in my 2011 and im good with that. Ive said it here years ago. The 5th gen Camaro is the future 57 Chevy of the car world. Everybody will want it. The 6th gen is like having an ugly girlfriend thats good in bed. Theres a reason the Camaro is again the topic of being chopped. If everybody other the then gen 6 forum thought the car was as great as they do....it would be a different story.
