It would be nice if maybe they used a more open platform for their infotainment system, like android OS or something. Then had a proper app store that companies could build apps for. Instead of this home brew pos.

I think Waze will not work within Apple Carplay until Sept 12th, when IOS 12 comes out. This is one of those things that I really would use.

I see that they added the my chevrolet app. It's pretty much useless, gives tire pressure and your owners manual. The only app I've ever used is glympse.

Just to give some representation to the other side of the aisle (those who also appreciate integration with the rest of the car, such as the HUD and the DIC, like the builtin navigation and aren't happy to have to tether the phone), 99.99% of android apps are useless, too. The only one I'd consider getting if it were available in the GM store is Torque. Maybe.
In addition, having choices and alternatives never hurts, it's good to have an extensive feature set in the entertainment module as well as Android Auto and Carplay support. In this vein it would also be nice to be able to customize MyLink components so people could opt out of things. Btw I don't get why so many here seem to want to enforce their preferences as some sort of "obvious" ideal and call everything else "redundant" "waste of money". At least GM navigation is opt-in anyway, people can simply use Waze or Google Maps instead with little hassle.
