Another catch can believer

3500 miles and I drained this outta the can today:

Imagine how much oil it would have sucked it after 20 or 30,000. RX catch can worth every penny...

If you plan on keeping your car for more than a few years a catch can is one of the best investments you can make in your car.

Doesn't the catch can catch the oil that would have been burned off anyway? I think a bottle with oil isnt really accurate for representing the benefits...

No. The gases that the oil vapor is suspended in burn off. The oil vapor condenses and builds up in your intake manifold and on your intake valves which over time results in retarded timing, detonation, and power loss. Direct injection engines, like the LLT and LFX, are especially susceptible to this because they do not have fuel washing over the intake valves to at least give them a little bit of help staying clean (this is the same "gunk" many gasoline companies claim their special additives fight).

Pics like that speak a volume. I assume that its high revs that result in the engine puking oil like that. I can honestly say in those 3500 miles my car saw 6k or above maybe 10-15 times tops, and never more than 6400. If you are redlining your Camaro more often then it would be puking much more oil than that into your intake, I think its reasonable to say.

Correct. It happens no matter how you drive but for people doing autoX or hitting the drag strip it is an even greater concern. Hard driving definitely makes it worse.

Emptied my RX can yesterday after about 4,000 miles. Damn near filled up a Sobe bottle. Glad it kept that junk outta my engine.

You better keep an eye on your oil level.
