Need turbo cam help
I need some help from all you knowledgeable turbo folks out there. I need some advice on which of the three cams that I have on hand would be the best one for a twin turbo build on my Avalanche.
Engine details: 383ci, ported 243 heads, forged bottom end, ported TBSS intake, ported 90mm TB, currently about 12:1 CR (will be lowering to 11:1 or so). Current cam in 383: 239/247/.629/.629 @112LSA Cam option 1: stock GM LS9 cam (211/230/.560-ish lift @122.5 LSA) Cam option 2: 216/223/.550/565 @114 LSA So, I'm thinking the LS9 cam is the better choice, but I have no experience with turbo cam selection. Thanks, Scott |

What is your running goal? Fast and Furious, or a nice daily driver?

Pretty much a daily driver and towing duties. Probably only looking to do about 10-12psi max.

This site has gone down hill. Ask a fairly simple question, and aside from the one person who asked about goals, not one other person has offered an opinion.
Thanks.... |

I'd go LS9. ADM is a big fan of it and it will support over 1kwhp and be easy on the valvetrain. The only "issue" and I don't think it will really matter is the LS9 is a rectangle port head and the 243s are cathedral.
Why don't you go over to LS1tech or yellowbullet and post this? |

It will also depends on the gearing, tire height, torque converter in the tranny.
I have an old 04 Avalanche 4x4. Had it since 2006, running 4.10's with 2500rpm converter,33" tires, Had a LQ9 with a 206/212 cam in it for the longest time(over 10 years),now have a stock LS2.both engines had the TVS 1900 supercharger on top. Both towed and worked pretty darn good for what it is. lol... As for your cam option,I think it would be the best option to check with somebody like BTR,Pat G, or other cam companies that can select/design a camshaft for your setup. The LS9 is hard to beat for the price, but I think it's more designed for PD rect port applications.
