No word on how much the tax will be, lets hope GM makes some last minute revisions.

It is known, the tax is $1300 for manual, $2600 for automatic. It is added like an "option" and goes to the total vehicle price that is taxable by sale.

To all those worrying about power numbers, STOP! The zl1 is a helluva car. It will be damn close to the 2013 gt500 in acceleration. Many of you will get that car in the 11's bone stock. My gt500 went 12.3@116 bone stock, on stock tires, which is, believe It or not, one of the faster times on the Ford forums. With 650hp and the same 285 tire, I am willing to bet you'll see 11.80ish out of the Shelby. It is going to be a drivers race most of the time, plus the zl1 automatics will likely be more consistent at the track. I have run several high 12's and even 13's, the car is hard to launch. Now throw in the excellent suspension, bad ass looks, and being rare/exclusive, the zl1 is a great package.

On top of all that, one could always install a pulley/ tune and get 650hp, with the capability to return It back to stock if needed. IMO, Everyone who gets one of these cars will be more than satisfied. I wish I could...

If that were the case why didn't GM just up the ante and make it an even 600hp? Personally, I think anything past 600hp. on a stock LS3 engine is on borrowed time and it just comes down to the luck of the draw.
That's the only logical reason why the ZL1 is only 580hp. anything more than that needs forged internals to make it safe enough to avoid risk associated with warranty.

BTW - Noooiiicce ride.

I don't think the LSA would have any problem with making that power reliably. The transmission would be questionable if the torque went up though.

There are plenty of guys on the Cadillac forum making more than 600 at the wheels on the factory LSA internals, and they've been doing it for 3 years already.

I'm pretty sure LSA in the Vette and Cadi vs LSA in the Camaro have different internals.
As for the tranny; On the auto it may be a problem, but I think an M6 would be fine with that power level.

THIS.

One of the things about this car is that it will be cheap and easy to squeeze more power out of it.

Thanks for the comments. The other thing I wanted to add is the zl1 price seems to be somewhat fair for all that you get. Upper 50's is about what a fully loaded gt500 goes for. It is the GG tax and mark up that scares me. Find the dealers that will sell them at MSRP, or hopefully less in the . I'm looking forward to seeing a fastest 1/4 mile list in the spring!

What I'm seeing is a SS LS3,426HP, with a supercharger on it , which about 576 hp.
