I thought someone who had already changed theirs out might have mic'ed the pin for future reference. Guess I'll give it a shot later this month (fingers crossed).

I'm planning on putting my bushings in this weekend hopefully, i will be installing my 9 inch also so I will have my driveshaft out as well, can I just install the bushings and burnish the pin without pulling the shifter out? I'm mechanically inclined so was just trying to keep from stripping out the screws used to hold shifter in. Thanks.

See post #113 about halfway down this page. All I removed was the rubber boot. Shifter and driveline were still in car. You should have no problem with the driveline out, but you will have to burnish the two bushing pieces before you put them in since a drill won't fit in the tunnel.

Can someone show us which screws these are please.

(when doing this mod, maybe we should have a slightly larger diameter replacement screw on hand... just in case?)

Thanks

Thanks for the info, this was what I had planned on doing myself.

Ok, so far for me this has been very difficult. Been on this all day. I got the the shifter back in, and trying to get the pin through. It slid through the bushings just fine, but when I got the shifter in the car and the lever connected, now the pin went through but not all the way though and and the very tip is not feeding through. Can't move it now... HELP!

Ok well I got the pin back out. I think what happened is that the hole is not lined up perfectly one side due to not having a perfect burnishing of the pin hole. I tried pushing the pin through on both sides and when I push through starting from one side, it goes all the way through until a small part of the pin is sticking out on the other side but won't go through the whole way. When I take the pin out and try pushing through the other way it does the same thing but there will be some small slight resistance at first. I think this is from forcing the holes to line up now for the other side since it didn't go through on the original try.

So sounds like this set of bushings is F-ed. I'm pretty pissed off. Unless anybody has any other idea of what might be happening.
