That is a good deal but who makes the gears? I went with the GM gears specifically because of the almost guaranteed ease of installing and reliability.

Sorry if iím out of place with this question, but is there a place on this forum that has a complete parts list necessary to have the 3.91 gears installed? Maybe even with links?

Also, anything else you need to upgrade? Staying NA around 400+.

Thanks!

Well in the Bay Area where we have the most expensive housing cost and gas in the entire country. I was quoted from a aamco trans shop of $700. It’s a solid local business simple as that. From talking with some real cars guys with serious money behind the builds, I was told of a rear end shop. They too also said $700 and they can receive my car on Monday and pick up Tuesday. I believe this is my plan of action that I’ve figured out today. Overall that’s brings the job totally to 1k. Gotta pay to play boys.

That's still a really good deal at $1K. I've read a lot of folks are paying $1800-$2000 to get this done. I just got my quote from my speed shop to get the swap done TOMORROW and my total is $1.4K.. I am choosing to pay to play as well. They said I could bring my own parts in but cautioned against getting the kit from ClassicMuscle.com that I found for $440 since they don't list the GM part number.

So I am paying the $510 for the kit plus about $80 for new pinion bearings plus 3 qts of amsoil diff fluid and $750 for labor.

I know because all the other stuff I do my own wrenching at home. My mentality is Iím taking the car to the next level and that means outside help and paying for it. Otherwise Iíll go nuts thinking that labor money is parts money and this labor bill is nearly a FAST INTAKE or more Carbonfiber since Iím a sucker for it lol. Iíve always had nice cars and with the SS CAMARO this car is a machine that should be built on a higher standard.

Thatís awesome that you got your car booked for the swap already. When dealing with shops it definitely helps your warranty or future issues if you bought your parts direct and they do the labor as well. Great protection because you can say you sold me the parts and installed....so whoís fault is it. Anyhow, I noticed youíre a Texas guy. Iíve never been but a top speed shop from the bay relocated to Hudson TX because itís just to political in Cali. If you are near I can dm you that info for the future mods you may have planned.
