get the GM stuff. Lots of noise issues with non GM fluid. GM fluid is expensive but has the correct additive package for our sensitive rear. 75W-90 Limited Slip (GM Part No. 88862624, in Canada 88862625).

I tried Royal Purple, but it caused the rearend to moan during low speed turns. Went back to the GM fluid and the moaning stopped.

I just did mine. Got the lube from gmpartsdirect.com. Takes 2.1 qts so I bought 3@$13.70+$9.97 ship. It's over twice that at the dealer, if they even stock it, which mine didn't.

I use Pennzoil 75w90 Synthetic GL5 with a bottle of GM limited slip additive. That is what was recommended to me by the technical service rep I spoke to at Shell. Seems to work just fine. The GM fluid for the ZL1 just has the limited slip additive mixed in with the gear oil already.

you can really use any approved fluid as long as the friction modifier content is correct I would think.

If you buy a cheaper more widely sold brand just have some some GM friction modifer on hand.

if you get chatter or moan you add some modifer and drive the car in a figure 8 pattern. you just repeat this till it is noise free.

I just used the factory fluid though as if you buy it fromt he right place it is not much more.

Just buy the GM stuff. They're going to need the money to pay off the ignition switch lawsuits so they can concentrate on continuing to build Camaros

I used the GM LS fluid in mine and have had no issues. Just easier to stick with the GM recommended stuff and avoid the hassles.

He has a point! GM stuff is proven to work, however for sever duty there may be better choices. IMO
