Chicago weather is changing quickly .We hit 32* last night, so I'm getting ready.

1 Steel wool for the tail pipes
2 2 bags of Unscented silica Kitty litter for the trunk and cabin
3 Mothballs for the Engine bay
4 Techron Concentrate plus and Seafoam gas stabilizer for the tank
5 Plastic tarp for the garage floor and four carpet tiles for the tires
6 Clean car cover
7 Trickle battery Charger

I think I have everything ,hope I can get 6 more weeks of driving before they start salting the roads

A good list. I would also add: inflate tires to max PSI to help prevent flat spots.

Temps over here in the NY area are about the same, little warmer.

Im putting my car away this tuesday.

Not going to the extent you are going, just putting it on stands and removing the rims.

The mechanic at the dealer told me, letting your suspension hang all winter in a unnatural state was very bad for the 5th Gens, have you done this before?

i park it on a rug half a tank of gas and a battery tender... car will sit for 6 months and then it goes to the shop for some work in april.. never had a issue for the last 4 winters

#7 IMO a battery tender is a better bet as it will not over charge your battery.
Just my 0.02.

Jack stands every year all winter tires off. for the past 5 years Never had a problem yet.

Thank you ,you are correct ,My charger is both tender and trickle charger (cheap Walmart brand ).But it's holding up

Mine has sat on the same tires every winter since 2009 without any tire issues.

Nope.

Weathers just dropped past 1,000 degrees and getting into prime cruising time come evenings. Only put 300 miles on it since January. Gonna fix that this coming week.

So my Camaro is a veteran of five winters of storage, duration 6 months.

Here's what I have done, with great success:

1. Change the oil and filter.
2. Put in the Sta-bil, fill the tank, drive home 5 miles from the gas station.
3. Inflate the tires to 38 psi.
4. Connect the Battery Tender.

Putting the car on jacks is absolutely unnecessary. What little flat spotting there is goes away after a few miles. My tires sit right on the concrete. No problem there, either.

As for rodent protection, I need that for the whole house, not just the car, so I have a professional exterminator under contract full time to keep the poison traps filled. There are four traps, one in each corner of the garage.

Will be putting mine away soon, around the first of November, depending on the weather.

Will be filling the tank with gas, using a cover, will be in my garage.

Now my question should I add some sort of sta-bil ?

Will be away in Arizona until March or April.
