4th gens were a fluke. GM had the Z already in production. SLP came to GM with an idea and they labeled it an SS. Only reason the SS cost more then the Z in the 4th gens. and most 4th gen SS's were Z28/SS's. if the SS had a special place as the Z does for the camaro then they would have always produced an SS camaro. so many people have things mixed up because of the 4th gens.

After reading your statement I had to pull Jerry's book out and look at window stickers for 69's. Depending on the options some Z/28's were more expensive then COPO's. |

Not to mention, when it comes to bragging rights on the 1/4 mile track (which most car guys care about) the SS was the king.. in EVERY Chevy model... Options change the game though, as I could option build a 1SS 5th Gen to crack 40k...despite costing just 30k brand new...

All basic 1969 Camaros started at $2726.00 and went up as the year progressed. VIN 709540 (late Oct. 1969) topped out at $2816.00. Add the options and get the price. SS cars were not always the top dollar car. Guess who has VIN 704511. Last edited by Fightinfire921; 10-10-2011 at 10:48 PM. |

I predict that the Z-28 will be a turbocharged V6... especially since we've seen how nicely some turbo's would mount up to the new 1 piece head/exhaust manifold.

This thread reminds me of the early beginnings of the "Big" Z28 thread. Are we really going to start over???

see how easy that is? why waist the weight on expensive turbo setup, when either an LS7 or a new GenV V8 will be available? more reliable then a turbo setup and cost more then likely about the same. |

Because the LS7 is going away and the new GenV V8 will be in the SS.
