Best exhaust system and headers for 16 ss?
I currently have stainless works catback exhaust system... thinking about getting a MBRP exhaust system with the 2" kooks Long tube headers with off Road pipes... I would like some review on those mods and if I should use these system instead of buying a 2" Long tube headers system from stainless works....

For NA and even some lower power FI cars 2" is overkill. 1 7/8" will support up to 1000 rwhp.

MBRP usually sounds very good in any brand. If you decide to let go of your SW.. HMU I might buy it.

I spent countless hours watching exhaust videos for the 6th Gen. Enough that people around me would roll their eyes because I was so indecisive. In the end I went with SLP and got the exhaust note I wanted and am 110% satisfied. On the flip side I could have went to an exhaust shop to do a custom job, but didn't want to run the chance of a poor job properly crafting the pipes.
If curious, I did post clips of the exhaust on my Instagram: ggShow7ime

I 've got that exact set up that you're looking for and its great IMO. I started with just the headers connect to my NPP setup then after deciding it wasn't loud enough for me I got the MBRP race version catback. It could be slightly louder but the tone is great, deep and loud at WOT. Only other option I would have opted for would maybe be replacing MBRP with corsa, but I'm happy.....for now

Seems some of the most common you'll see here are the borla, hookers (exhaust, not ladies of the night), and mbrp there's also a KOOKs system out there haven't heard that one on any clips. Then there's the whole diverter/ cutout route which some will save some money and get you some good sound, loud albeit. If you're going for loud, diverters, if you're going for an all in one package that's not setting off all the alarms in the parking garage, vbut will have some gains in hp go with a full system cat back secondary cat delete. Phastek is a good site to check out as well as the many other references on here.

2" will loose nothing under the curve and flow a bit better at 6K+. The only reason to go 7/8 is possible cost, fitment, quality of construction. If all 3 of those are the same, go 2".

If you like the sound of your Stainless Works catback I would just add a set of Stainless Works headers. They have a connection pipe available that will allow them to bolt right up to your catback and give you a true 3" system.
Since the 6Gen doesn't have a connection point you have to watch what you pair up together. A lot of systems overlap and will require cutting/welding. When you're ready to order stop by our site and shop around with code CAMARO6 or give us a call and we'll make sure you get the best price. |
