How is this done…there must be a way to recreate this “hack.” I have been building computers for years and am now curious how to hack my own car.

Do you have any pictures of what it looks like installed in your vehicle? I've actually reached out to this company and have a local installers details and am thinking of reaching out to them, but it would be nice to see how/where they are installed and what it looks like installed.

Looked into it and they said $875. I found the remote relay and will probably go that route as it doesn't splice into any wires and seems like a great and much less fix.

Just a thought. What about using a battery disconnect switch or remote 250amp kill switch relay and a small bypass wire with a 5 amp fuse or circuit breaker? This way the car’s electronics and remote entry stuff all stay powered when the battery is disconnected. If an unauthorized person tries to start the car while the battery is disconnected, the amp draw from the starter with blow the fuse or circuit breaker completely disabling everything in the vehicle.

First, they would need to know that is why it is not starting. Second, they would need to have the correct relay with them. Third, takes more time.

Yes, anyone could do that, but think about it -- they would need a crystal ball to know whether it was a relay, kill switch, or other means or malfunction that was keeping the car from starting.

My thought is they would do a quick check for a kill switch in the area of the driver's seat and then bail out. I don't think thieves are going to pop the hood and start switching out relays... particularly not for something like my LT, where interposing a few speed bumps for the popular theft methods would seem to do the trick.
