Rattle Noise & Other Questions.

I have a 2011 2SS/RS convertible. Since I do not believe this is a top issue, I am asking here. If I am wrong, please let me know.

My car just hit 30,000 miles about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I have noticed a near constant rattle from the passenger side. If I go over railroad tracks, painted road lines, etc., it is more prevalent. Is this common, or should I have the dealer look at it (yes, it is still under warranty for 3 more months).

Second issue, for the last couple weeks as well, she makes a fairly loud knocking sound when starting in the morning. This seems to stop after about 20 seconds. All fluids are good. Is this normal or colder mornings? I do not recall this happening last year.

Third, I noticed this today (see pic). Is this a warranty issue as well?

I have thought that before and I have moved it, but still happens. I even wedged the buckle under the seat belt strap this morning. It seems to sound like it is coming from the dash area. I don't have anything in the glove box that is not paper, but I am going to empty it today leaving the office as a test.

How about the rear window regulator assembly. They sound kind of funny going up and down.

It sounds like it is coming more from the front around the dash/door area.

I found a similar rattle on the right side of the dash that turned out to be the duct going to the right side air outlet. It's pretty easy to check. Pry off the right end of the dash - the part that's covered by the door. It's just held on by spring clips. The duct is right in front of you at that point and it's held in by one screw. On my car the end of the duct up near the base of the windshield wasn't seated right. Once I removed the screw I could reset the duct and put the screw back.

I hate car rattles and I traced down the 2 that I had. One was the spare tire nut had loosened up and was moving around which is what was rattling. The other rattle I found was my rear deck inside where your rear speakers are mounted. I need to add a couple of screws to get that rattle to stop.

The rattle is driving me nuts. Emptied glovebox, and it continued. Turned of AC/heat, still rattled. I will check the duct tomorrow.

I actually think I have the same rattle you have. I told the dealership about it last time I was there for an oil change. They said they could not find it or identify it. He said if I can get it to replicate he would have a technician take a ride with me.
Let me guess...
You hear it when you cold start it; its more noticeable in higher RPMs?
I actually hear it every day but I choose to ignore it as I can drown it out with music.
Thanks for the reminder. I get off work early tomorrow, Im going to stop by the dealership and ask them to take another look. Ill let you know if they find anything.

I have a rattle that sounds like one of the bows has a loose part. It has always bothered me but the dealer said no issues. Always happens when I hit a bump or am on a rough road.

I figure as long as the top isn't leaking, I've got it better than those who need a replacement. If you get it to the dealer and they can fix it, let me know please!

Is your car running the L99 (auto). If so you may have an issue with the hydraulic lifters. This is an issue that is covered under warranty - I'd definitely recommend getting that addressed as it would cost about 2k to fix out of pocket.

It's very easy to completely remove the glovebox door. Just lower it and detach the little spring cord on the right side and lower the door enough to unhinge it. You can try tapping your hand on various parts that you can reach with the door removed to see if you can get anything to buzz or rattle.
