I made mine almost the same way. But I really like the touch of using a router on the leading edges, nice touch man!

What's wrong with jacking the car up? Doesn't take long.

I think those priorities are mixed up. I don't care abou the quality of the ramps because of a $40,000 vehicle. I care about the quality of the ramps because I am the one going underneath the car. My life is worth more than $40,000.

I use 2 stacked 2x10s just to get the low profile jack under my car then use jack stands.

I made some out of wood 30 years ago. They were getting a little worn out so I made a new set last year. I had most of the wood laying around. They are light, easy to store and should last 30 years if I am still changing oil when I'm 82.

Well I picked up the extension kit. They are pretty sweet. The bottom piece has 2 rods that go into the lower holes, and top piece locks into bottom piece. Made in USA. The pieces lock together for storage. The whole kit is rather small and will store under the ramps.
These ramps have held up my 1 ton no problem. I bought them for 5 bucks at a garage sale about 15 years ago in like new condition. |
