Shaky steering wheel

Okay so as the wife and I were driving around OKC today I noticed that when I got over 50 mph that the steering wheel had a shake/vibration. Figured they may need a balance stopped and got them balanced. Still occuring. I'm thinking several things. I got new wheels on. LG Motorsports ZR28 which are 20x10 front and 20x11 rear. Also put on a BMR Strut Tower Brace. Could anything I have be causing it? Or do I need to go by and see about a front end alignment?

i'm no expert, but, if they were able to balance the wheels, then i would lean towards an alignment. good luck, let us know how you make out.

Also the thing is the car only has 9,600 miles. Never hit a pothole or a curb. I wouldn't think it would need an alignment this soon.

any chance you have stock tires and wheels toss them on the front and hit the highway. ive seen bent wheels balance fine.

traded my stock wheels and tires. How can you tell if there bent? Once I got them on they were smooth. No shaking at all. Haven't hit a curb or anything.

alignment will cost around $50-$100.

I've read if it were a bent wheel that it would do that at all speeds.

You said it does it at 50 and above so it could be an alignment issue or like you said a bent rim.

I hope it's not a bent rim. I just got them lol I've never hit a pothole or curb. I got them from a lady in here 50s. She didn't like them on her car because she said she was a grandma, etc. Super nice lady. I wouldn't think she would give them to me if there was a problem. They were perfect and smooth when I got them. It started last night and today on the shaking.

Check the alignment or it could be a bad ball bearing starting to happen.

Wal mart is all I could take it to and they said it could be the wheels and tires causing a problem with my suspension since they are 20x10 front and 20x11 rear.

A misalignment won't give you a vibration or shack in the steering directly, but it may have started cupping one of the tires which will give that feeling. If the 11's will fit the front I would atleast try rotating them just long enough to see if is a bad tire.

The wife's vert did the same thing at around 26k, I just rotated the tires (19") and its gone and will just run em out till they need replacing.

I'd also take what some guy at WalMart says about tires and wheels with a grain of salt.

I went back and re-read, how many miles do you think she put on them before you got em. And maybe her alignment was slightly off which would start an irregular wear pattern, which is very hard to see until its obvious.
