Is it a hot rod?

I posted a tread on another site about my new Camaro SS and called it a "Hot Rod". Man you would think the world was coming to an end. Half them got bent and said no way was it a "Hot Rod". I call it a Hot Rod it's modified to go faster and handle better. I know it doesn't matter what others think and I can call it anything I want. Just wondering what"s your take, do you consider it a Hot Rod.

I don't know much about this sorta stuff...but aren't hot rods cars that are modified to go fast, that aren't go-fast cars to begin with?

Like making a 400HP+ car over 500HP doesn't sound like "hot rodding"...but taking, say, a Chevy S10 that had about 200HP and making 400HP+ and tuned for racing, that sounds like a "hot rod".

I may be 100% wrong.

I agree, call it your pet dog if you like. No need to care what others think of you calling your car.

If you really want to get them bent out of shape, do this.

"How do you like my new Hot Rod, I got the V6 auto, because it's better and faster than a V8 manual. Also the 1LE is really nothing but an SS with 3.91 gears".

some on here will have an immediate melt down, and may just jump out a window.

Im not from the Golden Era of Hot Rods but I see nothing wrong. No disrespect but I see older people calling my car a Hot Rod. They like the "loud" paint , its fast and you can hear me before you see me. Might be the same way when these new cars are called muscle cars. Some agree some don't.

I don't consider the 5th gen a hot rod but if it makes you happy that's all that counts.

I do consider it a modern muscle car.

Is that a 55??? Damn sexy car right there!! Once my S10 is done being built I want to build a 55 210, all black of course

**EDIT that one on your pic actually looks older than a 55 the more I look at it, hard to tell without the grille.

Agree. By definition if it's modified for speed and performance it's a hot rod. By the same token, Camaros are not muscle cars they are pony cars.
