Generic X-Pipe or Name Brand?

I have a 2013 2SS-RS Automatic and I have already deleted the rear mufflers. I am going to install the Thrush rattlers (my personal preference as I like the sound). My question is: would a generic 2.5 inch x-pipe work as good as a name brand? All the dimensions of the generics and name brands are the same and all are stamped. Just looking for opinions on this simple topic. I am pretty open to suggestions. I have had hotrods (Camaros and Vettes) all my life and love the sound of single chamber mufflers and glasspacks.

I've been thinking of doing the same as I have the mufflers deleted as well.

I have a $100 x pipe. No problems. Same thing without the brand tag.....

Might want to get AFM tuned out if you haven't already.

Might want to remove the AFM lifters before they fail is more like it... even tuned out those suckers are a time bomb. I got an unintended cam swap on mine.

The Jegs x-pipe could be welded better. If you look inside you can see where some of the pipe sticks out into the airflow. It isn't smooth in there at all.

I would do an H pipe instead of the X pipe. The following is from the Flowmaster website.....

Flowmaster® has performed extensive testing and determined that the “H” and “X” pipes generally delivers no significant difference in performance, but does affect tone. The “X” pipe will change the sound to a higher pitched tone. Flowmaster Scavenger “X” pipes however do increase power and torque through use of their patented D-port technology and retains the deep Flowmaster muffler tone that is desired by most performance enthusiasts.

Flowmaster® strongly recommends using a crossover tube, otherwise known as an “H” pipe or balance pipe on all true dual exhaust systems. The crossover pipe equalizes the exhaust pressure and allows the sounds waves to communicate between both banks of the engine. Not only does this usually improve torque in the low to mid rpm range, it also creates a deeper mellower tone both inside and outside of the vehicle and helps eliminate “back-rap” on deceleration.

I have the Jegs x-pipe. Bought it on their Christmas sale for 79 shipped to my door.

Works great and gives me just the right amount of sound. Definitely a nice kick of new found power (nothing crazy but then again, look at the resonator it replaces). Win win as far as I'm concerned.

I welded a Magniflow X pipe in place of H pipe on my NPP. Happy with it. Have done 2 more for friends since then. All like them. Sound is awesome...balanced and smooth.
