Feeling Guilty About Leaving Dirty?

I find myself doing a quick detail on my car in the evenings after I have used it. Although I only have about 160 miles on it - when I do take it out it seems to get dusty and pick up small amounts of road grime.

Do any of you feel guilty leaving the car dirty? Is anyone else compulsive like me and feels that the car should always be spotless?

All of my cars get a wipedown with Eagle One Wipe and Shine or Prolong's Waterless Wash and Shine...every day...can't remember the last time I pulled out the hose and bucket...my obsessiveness with it drives my wife batty (but my neighbors know that I have the cleanest cars around).

I have cars to baby and cars to drive. the ones I drive a lot don't get babied. The camaro is my wifes. Funny thing is it doesn't get washed much right now because she drives everyday, but we are getting ready to store it for the winter. Now, when I get my 2ss/rs It will be lucky if it get out a couple of times a year. But, It will get wash after every time it's out. I guess I saying, I don't have the time or the energy to baby a daily driver. I don't know how you guy do it.

When it is not like Seattle like it has been since I got the car (constant rain) I have
been using a california car duster and McGuire's car detailer every day. Will be glad to get my '57 Ford into storage (I know the Ford should be sitting outside) so the Camaro gets the garage!

My fourth gen daily driver is almost 10yrs old with 140,000 miles on it and I still wash it twice a week due to it getting a little dirt from driving. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this sickness.... Whew!!, I'll have to show my wife this thread so she will know there are others out there.

The real question is who also details their engine bay at least once a month?

I don't feel guilty so much but when it's really dirty(I live on a dirt road) I feel embarassed to drive it that way because I feel like others probably say"man such a nice car why is it so dirty?" I wash twice a week. I do finally have a garage now that my husband was nice enough to have built so that does keep down the dust a little but not all. I know I have issues, why should I care what others think.

I will go ahead and tell on myself. I keep mine clean. The first day I drove it to work I put some cleaning supplies in the truck and stopped a mile from work at a car wash and cleaned all the bugs off and made sure it was very clean before anyone at work got to see it. But, I did have a 60 mile drive to work. If its clean then I am happy!!!!

I suffer from a similar affliction.

There have been time's where I've backed the SS out of the garage, just to give it a bath and another coat of polish. And I cannot get past having to wash it after every ride. Sure, I'll try and tell myself, "Its fine! Its not dirty!" But as sure as the sun rises, I'm out there, giving it another bath.

But it does pay off. Having owned my Camaro going on 11 years, I'm asked more times than I can remember, "Is that factory paint?", "Thats a repaint!", and I just smile, and reply, "Its original."

I give my Camaro a hand wash at least once a week. Even if it's just sat in the Garage all week. It's therapy for me. Saturday morning, out in the garage, tunes blasting and washing the car. It's my "alone time", away from work, kids, wife, bills etc.

I wash mine every Saturday. She's a daily driver for me (well not when there is ice on the road .. I don't trust the other drivers) and I usually have a lot to do once I hit the door. So the day to day dust has to sit til Sat.

But I've got a bottle and rag in the trunk for the stuff that just screams "CLEAN ME NOW!!!"
