Camaro SS VS Jeep srt8

My brother has a jeep srt8 and says he will smoke me if and when i get a camaro. He runs 12.9 to 13.0 at the track. His jeep is stock. Has anyone ran into a jeep yet. When we roll in it we have smoked challengers and chargers. We held off an 03 cobra till about 80 mph.

average mpg 12.8 miles per gallon

Damn AWD.

He will get you on 60' and at the 1/4 mile if you don't hook and go. No bogging the car or your beaten. My friend has a SRT8 jeep as well and there quick. Remember get out of the hole without a bog you will be good those jeeps lose it around 90 mph plus.

Those Jeeps are very fun to drive! Alot of modified ones run in the 11s. It would kind of suck to pull up to a light with your girl next to you and then loose to a Jeep by 10-15 car lengths Stock for stock, as mentioned, get the launch perfect. He'll probably still get you off the line and you'll have to reel him in.

x2... it's unfortunately very close and it doesn't matter if you trap 5+mph higher he will still most likely take you to the end of the 1/4. A few guys on here have posted times decent enough to take one down but with the difficulty involved launching the 5th gen vs the Jeep you would most likely lose 9 out of 10 times.

Damn. 13.0-12.9 is pretty damn quick does the jeep hav awd? That why it would get us off the line.

I had one several months ago, they are legit. Everyone on here is accurate, out of the hole stock for stock you'll probably get smoked under 80mph from a dig...a roll race is different, but still don't sleep on them, they are pretty nasty. Alot of them aren't stock, so you will need mods also...the fastest bolt-on Jeep was low 12's at 112mph or so.

A guy at my work has one and is always calling me and my SS out. But I'm not that good off of the line so I know he will take me.

First off, don't street race. Its illegal and dangerouse.

Anyway, back on topic, the Jeeps weigh a few hundred pounds more than their other SRT8 brethren, but that AWD gets everything to the ground. I bet they are geared pretty aggressively to make up for that weight because fuel economy is just plain awful 11/14. And don't think you can out handle them easily either. Its said that they average around 0.9g on the skidpad. In a 5000lb SUV that has acceleration that is second only to the Viper in the Chrysler line-up. I have a lot of respect for Dodge when it comes to makeing crazy performance machines. They remind me the guy who can never refuse the line "I bet ya can't ... "
Bet ya can't build a sports car out of a Jeep. Done
Bet ya can't build a neon that gets respect. Done (SRT4)
Bet ya can't build a $100k supercar that will stomp on nearly everything world (and burn your legs every time you get out). Done

To the one post, I doubt the guy that raced the cobra in the jeep, I doubt the guy in the cobra knew how to shift. If he was a decent driver he would of stayed ahead of the jeep by a lil. The fastest jeep is also doing better than 12's.

It's amusing how so many people always go back to the, "Well if the driver knew how to drive!" Blah Blah Blah.....

Do you say that when John Force gets waxed by his own daughter? I seriously doubt it.

I used to read the Subaru WRX STI forums and those guys would say, "Well the car should do "this" but I suck at launching." Who gives a crap what the car "should do"? All that matters it what it does do with said driver behind the wheel. So regardless if the driver of the Cobra sucked or not, he still lost.

As the Grand Poobah of street racing, Torretto, once said, "It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning!" *que nutswinger cheering*

Wow, this is surprising. I never would have guessed in a million years that an SUV would beat an SS Camaro. Is the secret the AWD? I would have thought since the Camaro can beat the Challenger SRT8, then the Jeep SRT8 would be even slower. Thankfully there aren't a lot of them around here, but I sure would hate to get embarrassed in my new SS by an SUV
