We'll there are some options that we're guessing may be offered, but we don't know yet. I think it would be cool to get the Corvette's magnetic suspension and dual-mode exhaust, but those are pricey options. Also, we like checking our expectations and by overestimating costs, we're less likely to be disappointed. At least that's how I'm thinking.

Keep in mind, the next gen Mustang is due out in 2010 and everything being written is that it will come with roughly 400 hp in GT trim. The V6 will be right around 300, and possible more if they ecoboost it.

None of that has been written by Ford yet, just a bunch of "maybe"s as far as what's gonna power them. I'm sure it will sound good whatever it is, but the styling is already out and they didn't really go crazy with that, so I'm sitting pretty confident that the power across the board will not be too outstanding.

Perhaps, but I would love to see them pop in a 6.2 liter 400hp GT and SELL it for the same price they are selling their GTs now. Why in the hell would ford release a 6.2 GT when they are still trying to sell their Gt500s and shelbys which are still sitting on lots here in Florida.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for american muscle, but the craze for the mustang, even the 2010 isnt there. Nor do I see them dropping a 6.2 and being successful with it unless they want to sell it for 25k, which also wont happen.

Slap a name on the side and your mustang just became "special edition"

I'm going to laugh when in 2010 all the Mustang guys get are a slight facelift, an extra 20-40 horses, and a couple hundred pounds.

even with 200 more pounds the Stang will still be much lighter than the Maro 3500 pounds vs 3900 pounds lol.... we will see on the Motor upgrade it may surprise us all... Ford knows it needs to compete in order to maintain market leadership...

And it will still be a cheap interior, solid rear axle, dime-a-dozen uniqueness...all the things that Mustangs have always been.

Ok so it may be faster, though I doubt it. It will have ONE thing going for it in ONE category, because it won't handle as well, will gobble fuel, will be ugly and cheap feeling, and be more expensive!

Except it will be built in Canada

I believe my 1998 Z28 w/ leather, 6-speed, t-tops, Monsoon, cruise came in around $24K. But I bought the car used in 2004 and I found the window sticker behind the glove box, and I don't remember if that was 'base' Z28 price or out the door price...

I think fully-loaded SS's were going for around $31K near 2002...And the 35th Anniversary's were going quite a bit more (badass looking car!).
Not sure that this helps a whole lot but when I put my deposite down with the dealership we talked about pricing and we used a top dog price from the last year the Camaro was produced as a comparison (worse case senario). Keep in mind this was CANADIAN DOLLARS and the number was $43,765.94, so take about 10K off of that and your probably pretty close to the US cost.
